Paint decorated double wall box in dark red paint with mustard banding on the front and side panels. You’ll need a good strong nail to hang this on as it is a good solid heavy box. It measures 18″ tall x 13-1/4″ wide x 5 deep (front to back). It is made from old vintage recycled antique wood fastened together with authentic early square cut nails. You can see that the mustard striping has worn off in places. Please view all of the pictures and ask any questions that you might have. CAFE FIGARO ANTIQUE AAFA WOODEN PAINTED ADVERTISING TRADE SIGN SAN FRANCISCO? Up for sale is this wonderful old painted sign. We don’t know the age of this sign but it looks old to us, you make the call. It’s painted and has an old white / oyster white background with red letters. It’s a wood sign and the top part (possibly all of it) appears to be plywood. It’s worn and faded in places, and a little dirty around the edges perhaps, but it has a great look to it and a wonderful old look. It’s double sided and the back side is about the same except that it also has a wire to hang the sign up by. 19.75 inches wide by 17 inches high by 1.75 inches deep at the trim and 3/4 inches deep at the main sign. It’s a great sign! It has some fading, crackling paint, edge-wear, paint loss, wood missing, paint chips. ANTIQUE AAFA FOLK ART DOUBLE SIDED CHECKERBOARD ORIGINAL PAINT RED AND WHITE. Up for sale is this old hand painted checkerboard. It has a great folk art feel to it! The board is red and white with worn edges, paint loss and hand wear. The gaming part has beautiful bright red with white color alternating squares. The board is a 12 x 12 game field. It appears to be made from one large piece of wood with a couple of cracks in it. It measures 29″ L x 18″ W and is about 1.25 thick. It weighs about 7 lbs. There are two newer picture hangers on the back side to hang the checkerboard on the wall. You can see this in the pictures. Also on the back is a game. We don’t know what the game is, but it’s black rectilinear lines with a cross looking thing in the center of the board. This side also has worn edges, scrapes and hand wear. This is a GREAT double-sided game board!! As mentioned, there’s some edge wear, paint loss, nicks, scrapes, scratches and dings. Also, at the side of each players side, there was probably a small wood trim that would separate their checkers from the playing field. The paint is missing along this thin line as you can see in the pictures. All of these “issues” are just as you’d expect from and item of this age… It’s still just fabulous!!! Wonderful big arched crest on headboard and footboard and adorned by large oval Racetrack painted center panels and raised Black Walnut Architectural Relief. The headboard rest between two Gothic spires and the foot board features curved, rounded ends with a corbel facing the inside. Original matching side rails with great curvaceous flared ends. Incredible original grain painted wood grains and a solid substantial bed of quality craftsmanship, it has all the quality and beauty of the Victorian era. Victorian cottage furniture was made between 1850 and 1880. Cottage furniture, also known as country furniture, was often painted and decorated with hand-painted details. Double Side African American Folk Art Original Painting Listed Antonio Romano
I love coming across these gems, especially when both sides are equally well rendered. I’ve been told this painting is by listed artist ANTONIO ROMANO and it certainly does look like his work. The name off to the side of the painting is Dime Cumbert II. This might have been the name of the person he depicted in the painting. I don’t see another name/signature. Antonio Romano is known for using recycled items to paint on, and in this case, he used the back of a really nice landscape, in its original frame. The paintings really speak for themselves… Measuring approximately 24.5″ x 19.5″ approx. 20″ x 15″ without frame. The landscape oil painting is not signed. A little chippy around the edges… Frame lines, but is doesn’t detract from the painting. In some cases, photos are enlarged to show detail. Please see photos for reference.
