2x Antique 19th Century Middle Eastern painting on bone. Iran. Persia. Arabic
2x Antique 19th Century Middle Eastern painting on bone. These exquisitely painted miniatures are truly breathtaking. Set of two paintings. Believed to be acrylic on bone. Signed, but I cannot read writing. It may be Arabic or Farsi. Each painting is framed in a wooden frame with golden yellow tones that matches nicely. Frames have a small decorative hook on the top and hanging hardware on the back. The paintings are about 4.5″ x 7.5″, frames measure about 6″ x 9.25″. The first scene depicts a hunt. Horses and men chasing deer elk? In a wooded rocky area with ornate houses in the background. Although yellowed, it appears to be in excellent condition considering it’s presumed age of late 19th century. The second painting depicts a more communal scene of people tending animals sheep? , while others ride horses, sit inside tents, drink wine, and watch lambs and dogs. This painting is not in perfect condition, and shows some areas that have flaked off from the original painting. Although imperfect, the painting is still exquisitely done and wonderful to view. Antique Folk Art Carved Painted Wooden SANTOS Sculpture religious fragment. I believe this to be an old Santos sculpture due to construction, but a beautiful old carving either way. Please draw your own conclusions from photos and zoom feature. Appears to have had wings on back and perhaps held a spear. Definitely shows considerable age. Just a great decorative object and sure to be the only one on your block. Measures about 8″ by 5″. Please get them approved before purchasing. Any questions must be answered before the sale. Antique Dead Woodcock Game Bird Hunting Still Life Pastel Painting Trompe L’oeil
A beautiful 19th century hanging game bird or woodcook painting, appears to be possibly pastel on board from what I can discern. It is in a handmade period wooden frame measuring 9″ x 22″, the image is approx. The painting itself is in good condition, with strong color still. The frame itself must have gotten wet at some point, and the laminate is separating around the edges. There is also some chipping to the wood in the front. The gesso gold painted trims around the glass on the front do have some slight cracking in spots. The glass is original and seedy, there appears to be a scratch on the left hand margin. Original Painting Ukrainian Whimsical Folk Art
Ukrainian Larisa Prisyazhnyuk from Crimea painted this before the initial Russian invasion in 2014. She is still in Crimea but unable to communicate with the outside world and her social media taken down. Being a Ukrainian at heart, but torn between that and her Soviet upbringing, her courageous life is precarious but her loving nature was enduring with the last communication. This acrylic painting illustrates the spirit of the nation’s past folk art, depicting an Angel hovering over the church with the innocence of a child reflected in its face. In many ways the paintings’ Naïve, Modernist Primitivism perspective is reflective of the Generation X Ukrainian. This acrylic painting on the poster board measures 17 x 19 cm. Or 7 x 7.25 inches. Larisa signed/dated & titled this twice. On 1, a thick paper sheet she sandwiched between backing and the artwork she wrote in Cyrillic “A Memory”. On the backing cardboard for the framing done after the 2014 incursion, she again signed and dated it for the public, titling the piece in Latin letters “Angel”, or as I want to say, “Just Wonderful”. A Hobby Lobby frame suiting it will look much nicer for just a couple of bucks. Included are the two 2 signature backings and picture.
