Pair of Early 19th Century Antique Folk Style Original Oil Paintings Framed
This exquisite pair of early 19th-century antique original oil paintings beautifully captures the essence of rustic folk art. Both pieces evoke a charming, pastoral life, featuring a seated woman in traditional attire and a quaint countryside windmill scene. Painted in a folk style typical of the time, these pieces offer a glimpse into rural life with their warm, nostalgic tones and detailed craftsmanship. Each painting is meticulously hand-painted on canvas, with delicate details that bring a simple, tranquil world to life. They are framed in a gorgeous double wooden black frame, which accentuates the natural beauty of these timeless works of art. Whether displayed in a living room, study, or entryway, these paintings are sure to draw admiration from art lovers and collectors alike. Features. Period: Early 19th Century. Style: Antique Folk Art. Medium: Oil on Canvas Highlights. Unique, hand-painted original oil artwork. Folk-style scenes of rural life, perfect for lovers of traditional or country-style decor Condition: 1. Artwork: The paintings are in good condition considering their age, with no chips or missing paint. However, due to their antiquity, there is notable cracking in the paint, which adds to the authenticity and charm of the pieces. They are estimated to be from the early 1800s based on the age of the canvas and nails present. Frame: Please note, the frames are not as old as the paintings and are in tattered condition. They feature heavy wear, including chips, cracks, and dents. The frames are crafted from wood with a black Bakelite covering and exhibit signs of aging. The framer’s tag and machine screws suggest they are of a later date than the artwork itself. ________________________________________ The Secondhand Gallery – Where Art Finds New Life.

This painting is out of a mansion that was previously located in Little Italy, Omaha, Nebraska, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Omaha. It measures 48 inches wide by 36 inches tall. This is a double sided painting, someone painted on an old sign. There is a steel sign underneath here at one point in time I was able to read the writing on the sign of who manufactured the sign, but I couldn’t find it as I was looking through this time but I know it’s on there. It could be an old Pepsi sign or Dr Pepper sign or whatever so there’s three pieces here there’s a sign underneath the painting that’s unknown there’s a side that has the Indians on the mountain overlooking a horse caravan down below, and on the opposite side is a painting of a deer hunter getting ready to shoot a deer up creek from him, there is some paint that’s missing as seen that is fell off on one side and on the side where the Indian is at it kind of has rust bleeding through. I’m guessing this painting is from the early 1900s there is a signature on both sides one side I cannot read the other side is somewhat eligible, but I do not know who the artist is, I’m not into collecting folk art, but this is a beautiful piece regardless, if somebody painted it or somebody else just painted it, I really don’t know it would be an excellent piece to display. If you’re collecting this type of artwork, please message me with any questions as you can see I took pictures of the frame looks like somebody made the frame. The corners are a little bit loose, the metal is held in by nails as seen on the back again this is a very nice piece of folk at its finest.

THE PROVENANCE IS ATTACHED TO THE REAR. IT DATES AROUND THE 1960s. A NEW FRAME IS RECOMMENDED DUE TO SCRATCHES and water stains on mat. Please ask for any additional info I will be more than happy to help you. Don Wright (1938 – 2007) was active/lived in Louisiana. Don Wright is known for the Bayou landscape, botanic, and marine. Don Wright is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, and although he is still a resident of Louisiana, he is pretty well traveled. After graduating from Franklin High School in 1957, he enlisted in the U. During his time with the seismographic company, his interest in art grew. At the age of 24, Don Wright started attending classes at Southeastern Louisiana University. The next four years were spent chiefly on conservative studies of art that provided him with a firm foundation in drawing and composition. After he completed his BA, he was accepted to an MFA program at the Pratt Institute of New York. He finished the Pratt Institute in 1970 with an emphasis on painting, drawing, and what he would later call his favorite medium, sculpture. While most established Louisiana artists are known for their interpretations of backwater bayous or the View Carre, Wright never seemed to have settled on a particular theme. His painting style is always unmistakable, but it can be found in subjects ranging from swamps to nudes and courtyards to cabins. In his own words, Don Wright says of his art: I intend to infuse internal reality within the artist with outside stimuli, the product being the finished art object. I deliberately subordinate all questions of style, technique, subject, and medium to this simple philosophy. Wright’s work is also in the collections of Louisiana State University, the Ziegler Museum, Louisiana’s permanent state collection, and many private collectors worldwide.
