Fine and original painting by Oregon artist Albert Minerva. Painting is Gouache on paperboard and measures 18″ by 25″. Estate signed lower right. Not dated but dates to the 1950s. Minerva’s paintings are nearly always humorous and fun and this one hits his mark perfectly. His style is loose, folksy and modernist. Here we have a couple cowboys and a couple gals drinking in a saloon while a horse waits just out the front door. The first painting is in very good vintage condition and the cruise painting has some circular damage to the corners as can be seen in the photos. Minerva studied at the Chicago Art Institute and spent his life as an illustrator.

ORIGINAL 1990 CATE MANDIGO’WINTER SLEIGH RIDE’ OIL PAINTING. This is just a great original piece. I was lucky enough to acquire an incredible collection of original Cate Mandigo oil paintings from a collector in Pennsylvania. I have seen some of her paintings in the past and always thought they were excellent works of 20th Century Folk Art. For those not familiar with the artist, I have included her biography below. This is a wonderful original oil on canvas view of a sleigh ride in a winter wonderland landscape. Painting measures 6 x 8 inches. Signed and dated lower left. Outstanding as painted condition. Original frame is complimentary and ready to hang. Frame measures 7 1/4 x 9 1/4 inches. For those not familiar with the artist her biography from various articles reads: Mandigo has for decades been a mainstay of the art scene in the Adirondacks. Her American primitive folk-art paintings have been collected by art enthusiasts across the nation as well as overseas. She’s won major national awards for her work, and she’s been invited four times to paint artwork to be displayed in the White House. Original Signed Primitive Oil Painting on Masonite Board. Painted by Robert Cliff in January, 1995. Highly stylized depiction of horse and cowboy. HIs subjects exceptionally developed chest, arms and legs contrast with their tiny head and waist. Many of my customers have found his work to be erotic. Robert Cliff was a prolific painter with a focused on western scenes, the Civil War and Explorers of the frontier. He worked for the Postal Service and traveled extensively. He passed away this year. He resided in Madison, WI. His unconventional work leaves a lasting impression on those who have viewed it. Painting is 16″ by 20″. I plan to list more of his work this weekend.

This is a fabulous and rustic Antique Old Primitive American Folk Art Arabian Horse Ranch Painted Wood Sign, promoting the Lazy L Ranch that once resided in Artesia now part of Norwalk, California. This sign approximately dates to the 1940’s – 1950’s and advertises Arabians at Stud. ” The names of the studding horses are Azeke, and “San Benito, ” and the sign reads: “Horses Boarded. ” Additionally, someone has written “NO TRESPASSING at the top edge of the sign. Each side of this sign features the painted profile of an Arabian stallion. The address for this location reads 16708 Shoemaker, Artesia. This address is now under the borders of Norwalk, a neighboring city. The only information I could find on this ranch comes from two issues of the Long Beach Press Telegram from 1952 and 1953, which have been digitized online. Approximately 32 1/2 x 47 inches. Good condition for half a decade of outside use and weathering, with expected paint loss, paint flaking, edge wear, and some loosening and wood splitting to the original frame please see photos.
