The artist at some point in her life was employed by the man’s parents as a housekeeper which during that time period in America this was a fairly common form of employment. It looks to be a typical small town. When I walked into the game room as soon as I peered at the painting it captured my attention much like how most of us crane our necks as we drive by an accident on the highway. It is just hard not to look. The artist according to the man ended up in some kind of asylum or institution later in her life before she passed.
