This awesome piece features the Riverside Baptist Church and many children playing all over the grounds along the river. I love the two children hanging out the upper window of the church! Just a beautiful and heart warming piece of Americana and times gone by! I have had this in my collection ever since along with a few other pieces of hers.

Old Antique Vtg Ca 1930s Hand Painted Folk Art Sign County Recorder Sheet Iron

This offering is for an antique circa 1930’s to 40’s folk art hand painted sign. The sign reads COUNTY RECORDER on one side only and it appears to have been connected to a post at some point. The length is app. 16″ long and 12″ high. The sign is made of heavy metal which I think is probably sheet iron. The condition is excellent as seen in our photo’s with no bends, breaks, dents or repairs. The painted surfaces have minor losses as should be expected but nothing severe. The bottom of the trunk is not painted and the wood looks like it is White Eastern Pine. The rest of the trunk is all painted. The Painting has wear through out. There are small nicks and scratchs. The Hinges are iron. The handles are also made of Iron. The painting is signed on the upper right corner (LILY G). The top board is seperated down the center. The front of the chest is Painted with a Horn Of Plenty. There is a hole on the left side of the trunk. The structure of the trunk is sound are ready to use in your home. The size is 11 7/8 x 19 5/8 x 11. Please look close at the pictures as they are part of the description. Forged iron strapping, large hand carved dovetails, wide boards, original paint and hardware, this is a stunning antique Scandinavian pine immigrants trunk from 1882. Originally from a Minnesota estate. 42 by 21 by 21. Some wood damage at corners, worm holes but those guys are long gone. Good sturdy handles, all period and original.
