No signature can be found on this painting and it is in original, as found condition with a soiled varnish layer but no apparent losses to paint surface, aside from three small scratches in upper third. A good representation of one of Roseland’s most famous subjects (“Mixing The Love Potion”) probably from the early 1900’s. Through the publication of “Sunday supplement” prints, Roseland’s genre work in this series became very well known and reached thousands of home viewers, inspiring imitation by many amateur artists. This is one such work. I have owned and enjoyed this work for more than thirty years and now offer it for sale for the first time.
