Framed 20th Century Oil – English Shorthorn. A naive oil portrait of an over-sized English Shorthorn, standing in a landscape. The artist has painted the animal in a style, mirroring that of original 19th century Folk Art paintings. Presented in a gilt-effect frame with swept rails and elaborate corner mould. The artist has captured the scene in a wonderful naive light with stippling and graphite details. Well-presented in an ornate gilt-effect frame with laurel running patterns. The overall condition of the painting is very good. There is some craquelure to the surface and irregular patches of discoloured varnish over the stippled trees. Size: 29 x 22.5cm (11.4″ x 8.9″). C e l es ti a l N o n e s u ch. A gorgeous, FANTASTICAL, and very large example of Acrylic folk art painting of a country scene, painted, and signed, by Pennsylvania folk artist Bonnie Grilli. Bonnie retired in 2016 and has dedicated most of her time to charity. Bonnie painted on recycled materials such as old shutters and cabinet doors. This piece has two notches out of the base. Some scuffs and scrapes across the piece. Exhibits signs of age such as surface wear and weathering.
