Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description and best represent the item’s condition. I do my best to describe and photograph each item accurately, including any visible wear or imperfections consistent with age, storage, and prior use. Original oil on canvas by an unidentified American artist, probably late 20th century, depicting a nocturnal scene on what appears to be a Native American reservation. A dense, heavily worked sky of ultramarine and cobalt, scattered with yellow stars and a crescent moon, deliberately recalls Van Gogh’s The Starry Night. Below, a broad ochre plain is divided by a long fence line, with a settlement of small figures and structures in the middle distance. In the foreground, a woman in white, apparently pregnant, walks with small children; a long-haired man runs across the center; several small dogs are scattered over the ground; and a mounted rider in a hat raises an arm at right. At the lower right, a pair of glowing yellow arches unmistakably evokes the McDonald’s emblem, positioning the work as commentary on commerce and contemporary reservation life. The paint is applied thickly with expressive, visible brushwork throughout. Signed (illegible) on the lower left; no labels or inscriptions noted. Canvas 20 x 16 in. Framed 23 x 19 in. In a plain stained hardwood molding. The paint surface appears stable, with no visible losses, tears or flaking. The frame shows a few small pale nicks, most noticeable at the lower right. Not examined out of frame. Most of my items are vintage, antique, estate-sourced, or previously owned; therefore, I haven’t always performed professional authentication, appraisal, or testing unless explicitly stated in the listing.
