This sponge decorated chest measures 28″ long, by 14″ front to back, and is 11-3/4 tall to the high part of the dome top. The trunk has its original old sheet steel lock (missing hasp and key) butt hinges, wonderful old dovetails, with cut nails. Trunk features sponge decoration on all four sides, and the top. Main color is dark green. Old age related scuffs, partial split on one of the top boards. A beautiful antique dome top for your collection or display. GREAT PAINT DECORATED TRAVEL TRUNK. About 24″ x 12″ x 10. Wonderful folk art polychrome sponge painted storage chest. Sponge painted bands with splashes and squiggles in mostly yellow and black on a rust red background. Lined with newspapers dated 1830. Some surface roughage commensurate with age and use. TERRIFIC PAINT DECORATED TRAVEL TRUNK. About 20 1/4″ x 10″ x 10. Beautiful paint decorated dome top travel / storage trunk. Hand painted double arched panels on the sides and front, with images of tulips and other flowers in a vase, surrounded by curling vine flourishes. Similar panels on the lid ends. Maroon painted background on the body, dark blue on the dome top. Brass butt hinges and brass painted iron lock hardware (no key). Light cream interior, matching the background of the panels. Some minor paint loss, particularly around the edges, commensurate with age and use. Age drying crack in the lid (all visible in the images). A FINE EXAMPLE OF A 19TH CENTURY FOLK ART PAINTED TRUNK. Beautiful Small Antique Paint Decorated Dome Top Document Box Folk Art

Paint decorated miniature dome top trunk or document box. This is a really nice box! The box retains its original lock plate and hinges but the hasp has been replaced. It is lined with old wallpaper. It is constructed with very light, thin pine and a combination of old and some newer nails. The decoration is a later (newer) artisan addition but looks as old as the box. There is a repaired crack in the top securely glued. It measures 10″ long x 5-1/2″ tall x 5-1/2 deep (front to back). Scandinavian small folk art painted dome topped chest / trunk dated 1880’s A wonderful small Norwegian kiste, or dome top blanket chest with a nicely decorated decoration on the front and dome topped with a beautiful comb paint surrounding the rest of the chest. Rosemaling (rose painting) designs and lettering. A lock is present as is the key which is a giant plus. The outer edge of this box has text painted in black. The early script is defining this as Norwegian…. If I’m incorrect please let me know. The piece is painted in the traditional manner of decorated items familiar to this era and regions. It has a natural interior with wonderful heavy ironwork hinges. Ironwork and peg construction can be seen in close-up photo. The dome top is decorated with a strong design consisting. The chest is 15 by 10 by 9.5 The overall condition of the piece is quite good and again, so very attractive. It is structurally very solid and well built. The top is still tightly attached and the hinges are holding strong. One decorative interior iron looks as the tip is broken off. The painted surface is in excellent condition although the piece has an early, old re-paint over the original by the owners descendants, and shows a light coat of shellacking and as a result protected the surface through the many years. My flash doesn’t due the piece justice. This box is as nice as they get. Very hard to find and you will wait a long time before you find another this appealing and with a working lock and key. Perfect size for almost any space. Perfect for the Scandinavian decor or as a gift. Thanks for looking and as always, visit often! The item “19th c.
