Primitive Triple Wall Box or Candle Box in Old Black Paint Folk Art

This full size grungy wall box is rough but the form is awesome. The box is constructed of pine with remnants of old black paint and three nicely graduated tiers. There are exposed nail holes and cracks. It’s not perfect. This is an artisan reproduction made with vintage antique pine with original paint and square cut nail construction. This is a bold and colorful, hand-painted pottery piece from Mexico. It is a lovely tree of life (arbol de vida) candle holder, complete with Adam and Eve and the serpent. Made in Acatlan, Mexico in the polychrome (painted pottery) style. Lots of detail and work involved in all the hand formed leaves and flowers and figures. The pieces are all fired in outdoor kilns, painted and then attached to the tree form. The candle portion will hold 3/4 tapers. It measures 12″ tall by 14 x 4″. Pine double wall box in grungy blue paint. The paint on this box has been dry scraped down to a beautiful robin’s egg blue. You can see remnants of the two over layers of dark blue and pink. This is a reconstruction using vintage antique pine with original paint. There is some in-painting and touch-up on the edges. It looks great on the wall or on a shelf. The paint is guaranteed old with some in-painting and touch-up along with some nail holes filled as well. The back, bottom and sides are constructed of 3/4″ pine while the front panels are 1/2″ pine.
