This outstanding primitive whirligig is a wonderful example of early 20th century folk art which depicts an old man sawing. This colorful piece was done circa 1930’s. Size is 14 1/4″ long x 10″ tall and the span of the “whirl” is about 16 wide. Great detail and color, superb quality and clever craftsmanship. In original condition – just as it has descended throughout the years; dust and all. The paint is in very condition and the mechanism works well. The “Man & Saw” are attatched and moves back and forth however the “whirl” does not move them…. Considering the scarcity, quality and condition of this item, it would make a welcomed and desirable addition to any collection. Please take a good look at the pictures of this item for condition…. Vintage 1930s WPA Rural Works Progress Industrial Depression Folk Art Oil Canvas

This WPA impressionistic landscape oil on canvas painting looks like it should be on the cover of Steinbeck’s novel, “The Grapes of Wrath”. It has so many elements of what one wants in a WPA painting…. The rural landscape pose, a deterioration, deprivation, contrasted with progress and survival. Don’t miss the chickens, telephone poles and even wires faint across the blue sky, and an old car sits below the barn or maybe even turned living quarters. Overall condition is good, not perfect at all. The painting has a very small tear on the barn, better seen on the reverse photo of canvas backside. And there are some paint flakes here and there, and tiny flakes along a slight canvas ripple heading off to the upper right corner. Once you get over those flaws, you stand back and can’t stop looking at it. Its flaws do not take away, it’s as if they add to it, and it has so much emotion to it. In the lower left corner, it looks like a signature, A K____. But I can’t decipher it with certainty. It looks like a well accomplished WPA painter, and I wish I could know who the artist is without any doubt. Measures 25 ” x 21 ” framed 20 ” x 16 ” unframed. Antique Black Americana Folk Art Carved Oak Butler Stand Ashtray Old Paint 1930s. Antique Black American Folk Art carved oak butler/ashtray stand with original old paint. It is quite well made – carved from stained Oak, with painted accents including the head, collar and shirt and vest, and hand and feet. Nice detail, including the buttons on his cuff and the back of the jacket. The paint is original and has an alligatored surface, as does much of the finish on the wood. The figure measures about 34 1/4″ tall, the base that it stand on is about 10″ square. There is a little paint missing from the forehead on one side, but overall in excellent condition. Most of my items come from Estate sales and many have imperfections. I try to describe any flaws in my listing and take lots of photos so that you can see the condition of the item.
