Antique folk art portrait painting pair circa 1840. Early oil on canvas formal portraits of a young couple seated in period attire. These extremely expressive paintings capture the true essence of a bygone era, and offer a glimpse into life at that time. Charming details are present such as the styling of the hair, the striped shawl, the curved arm of a chair and a rose on the table. These fine details add a literary tone to these very compelling portraits. In their original gilt frames which retain the original gilt finish. The back has an ink stamp BROWN, 165 HIGH HOLBORN LONDON which I was able to date to 1840. BROWN LONDON was a renowned supplier of artists’ canvas and stretchers frequented by the top tier professional artists of the day. A fine example of English portraiture from this period. DIMENSIONS: overall 15.25″H x 13.25″W; site size 11.5″H x 9.5″W. CONDITION: Very good antique condition, paint is stable with craquelure, minor imperfections and signs of age and wear to painted surface as shown, wear to gesso on edges/corners of frame as shown.

Dimensions: approximately 21.5 X 13.5 Folk c by artist and deeply spiritual visionary- Howard Finster. Howard created these on a canvas of wood paneling These single owner pieces lovingly resided in our residential home environment and is in the exact condition as the day acquired. Not exposed to sunlight from windows or fluorescent lighting. Howard’s production date and signature are noted front/back. Interestingly on the self portrait is inscribed “Howard in 1944″ (neck) which would have been a likeness of a 28 year old Howard seen through the eyes of a 72 year old. As a special collector’s set, This offering is for two seperate pieces: Howard’s self portrait and Hank Williams Sr.

Pair of Original Flower Paintings on Scrap Wood Expressionist Folk Art. Both paintings will come with hanging wires on the back. Both paintings measure approximately 12×13 in but the plywood they are painted on is irregular in shape since it is scrap wood. These were painted after I was last in an art gallery. I hope to soon be displaying my art in or around the Charlotte North Carolina area. Below is an excerpt from my personal website. Mikah Keith Braman is an artist living in the western North Carolina area. Pre-2020, his art was displayed in a gallery. His paintings and prints are in homes across America. Art, to me, is merely a tangible manifestation of a creative thought, in my case, paint strokes on a variety of surfaces ranging from fabric canvas and board to scrap materials. The images eternalize a moment, a thought process in time, to be interpreted by the viewer relative to their own perspective and unique journey in life. Nearly one hundred percent of what I paint derives from conscious and subconscious image-invoking thoughts, emotions, and feelings that I feel at the time of execution. Vivid colors and bold brush strokes combine to create vibrant, imperfect subjects, reflecting the vivid, imperfect, but beautiful world we live in. I draw from my inner feelings, preponderances, and observances, rendering them onto canvas with hopes of connecting to that imperfection in all of humankind, while simultaneously appealing to that innate desire for beauty that exists in most of us. I enjoy savoring the delicacies of new cultures, new experiences and the beauty that surrounds us. Art rendered, whether rendered in angst, anger or love can be a beautiful thing to behold.
