Signed Guatemalan Folk Art Watercolor Painting Girl Weaving Plus Tourism/ Maps. Wonderful folk art painting by unknown artist in Guatemala. The painting is signed however I cannot make out the name or who it’s attributed to. This is a watercolor painting with nice rich colors throughout. Painting is signed with initials I believe on lower right. It is also matted and framed and protected behind glass. Frame measures 16″×13″ shows light wear including scratches but is also ready to hang. The painting itself measures approximately 9″×12″. Signed Folk art CANE With natural bitterroot vine snake Painted Putnam valley

Here is an unusual folk art walking stick. This is a signed piece made by the late Volker Martin, former member of the Putnam Valley folk artists assoc. He would search the forests to find branches with bitter root vines growing around them. He would cut them off and decorate them with paint and some modeling to the eyes. The workmanship in this is incredible he really had a feel for his materials. One of his canes is owned by General Colin Powell, also one is in the collection of Prince Charles. Sadly Volker passed away 5 years ago. He did not make many pieces, this is a one of a kind. It is signed on the bottom as shown in photo. Here we have a fantastic framed primitive-style 20th century oil painting on canvas featuring a black and white greyhound dog in a landscape. Landscape details in the background, including a castle and a village. Vintage : undated late 20th century, probably no earlier than the 1980s (our very best guess). Morgan on lower right. Please note that we are not art experts. We have no reason to suspect the authenticity of this piece, nor do we possess the knowledge to judge it as a work of a known or listed artist. We try to be exceptionally honest about everything we sell and what we know about it, and expertise in artwork is exceptionally difficult to gain. We respect it and we do not claim to have it. Approximate measurements : Painting: 24″ x 30″ Frame: 29.5″ x 35.5″. Condition : Our photos are the most important part of our description. Please zoom in and enlarge all of them and examine the details closely. We are not art experts, so please do not rely on our description to completely inform you. We have made no attempt to clean, polish, repair or otherwise alter the appearance of this vintage piece. The solid-wood, gold-tone frame with linen border has wear and considerable chipping to the corners and left edge see close-up photos, especially with arrow pointing to the damage. We haven’t inspected the painting outside of the frame. From what we can see, the painting is free of holes, tears, chips, wrinkles and crinkles. There is a light scuff to the upper right corner, and a very small raised bump on the lower left of the canvas — see photos with bump highlighted on front and back. Sorry, we don’t know what it is or if it is even considered to be an issue, but it’s there and we’re not sure, so we share that info. The painting has been on display in private homes, but shows no signs of exposure to smoke and nicotine, or of having been held in storage, a barn, an attic or a moldy basement. Comes ready to hang. We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Painting is bright and beautiful. There is some dust on the painting, which is visible on the black background area under bright lighting/certain angle, just needs to be cleaned, I dont want to mess it up, so leaving that in your hands Ive used these disposable feather duster things Ive gotten at the grocery store before, to get dust off of paintings, and it worked great. Beautiful signed DeGrazia “The Flower Boy” Unique Vintage Framed Oil Painting from Children Series 1977. 13 5/8″ x 16 5/8″ including frame. About the artist (from the internet)- I want to be notorious rather than famous. Fame has too much responsibility. People forget you are human. The son of Italian immigrants, Ettore DeGrazia was born June 14, 1909, in the Morenci mining camp of Territorial Arizona. His early childhood experiences in the ethnically diverse community evolved into a lifelong appreciation of native cultures in the Sonoran Desert and a passion to create art depicting their lives and lore. After the Phelps Dodge mine closed in 1920, DeGrazia was introduced to his parents hometown when they moved their seven children to the Calabria region of Italy. Enrolling again in the first grade to relearn English, DeGrazianicknamed Ted by a schoolteachergraduated from Morenci High School when he was 23 years old. By then he was an accomplished trumpeter who performed with family and friends. He enrolled at the University of Arizona in 1933, where he supported himself planting trees on campus by day and leading his big band at night. During one performance he met Alexandra, the daughter of Fox Theater owner Nicholas Diamos. Ted and Alexandra wed in 1936 and moved to Bisbee so DeGrazia could manage the Lyric Theater there, also owned by the Diamos family. The couple had three children during this time but divorced in 1946. DeGrazia continued creating his early paintings in Bisbee and by 1941, Raymond Carlson, editor of Arizona Highways, started publishing features about the artist. On a rare vacation to Mexico City in 1942, DeGrazia and Alexandra left an evening ballet performance and headed to the Palacio Municipal where muralist Diego Rivera was working. This encounter led to an internship with Rivera and Jose Clemente Orozco. The two Mexican masters then sponsored a solo exhibition of DeGrazias paintings at the prestigious Palacio de Bellas Artes. The following year he received a BFA, plus a Master of Arts titled Art and Its Relation to Music in Art Education. New York sculptor Marion Sheret met the artist when visiting his Campbell Avenue studio. As she recalled, his first words to her were Where have you been? They married in the jungles of Mexico in 1947 and bought the 10-acre foothills site in the early 1950s to build what was to become DeGrazias Gallery in the Sun. DeGrazias paintings, ceramics and other artwork steadily attracted media attention including the NBC newsreel Watch the World and a profile in the 1953 National Geographic article From Tucson to Tombstone. From 1960 to the mid-1970s DeGrazia became wildly successful and the gallery flourished with hundreds of thousands of yearly visitors. This infamous event was reported in such publications as The Wall Street Journal and People magazine, becoming part of DeGrazias legend before his death in 1982.
