This listing is for the Large 19th Century American School Painting of Three Hunting Dogs pictured above. A great, folky late 19th century painting of three dogs in a field. The trio appear to be tracking a scent, with all heads pointed left and all tails pointed out. While they are unnamed/unidentified by the artist, they appear to be spaniels that specialize in bird hunting. The work is oil on canvas and is unframed. 20.25 inches tall by 30 inches wide. Condition : Typical surface craquelure. Scattered small paint losses, primarily along the perimeter of the work. Scattered inpainting, primarily beneath the bottom dog and along bottom edge. This trunk chest was found in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. It measures 29 and 3/4″ long by 19″ wide by 16 and 1/2 tall. There are wheels present on the bottom. This trunk is in good condition with some minor damage and wear present. There are no repairs. The front is missing a latch where it locks.
