Antique dated 1859 original folk art watercolor and ink motto artwork reading. “Be Patient With the Little Ones”. This charming mid-19th century hand-rendered piece features delicate botanical vines, grape clusters, woodland scenery, and two lambs beneath illuminated-style lettering. The work has a soft naïve folk art quality with beautifully aged paper tones and hand-painted detail throughout. The lower portion appears faintly dated “Jan 1859, ” suggesting this is an authentic Victorian-era sentimental or nursery motto artwork rather than a later reproduction. Housed in its black painted wooden frame under glass with hanging loops present on the reverse. A wonderfully decorative piece for primitive, cottagecore, Victorian, or early Americana interiors. 15.5″ tall x 14″ wide x 3 deep. Condition: Frame shows age-related wear and surface marks consistent with age, but nothing alarming. Artwork retains beautiful antique character with toning and fading appropriate for a piece of this era. Glass front in good condition.
