Antique Folk Art Picture Frame, Hand Woven One-Of-A-Kind Tramp Art Primitive

I’m not sure how best to describe this antique picture frame because there is nothing quite like it. Sister has owned it for years; it is completely hand crafted and very likely one-of-a-kind. Best described as a piece of folk art or tramp art, this intricate piece dates from the early 1900’s and possibly late 1800’s. The back of the frame, easel, and picture surround are hand-carved walnut (the back has a raised panel). The basket weave and hand-woven front of the frame combines several materials – possibly reed, wicker, straw, and/or??? Sister will take lots of close-ups but feel free to ask questions or request additional pictures of any area or material. The only condition issue is not very noticeable and can be viewed in the last picture – a small braided foot has separated from the basket-weave leg. The little foot is still attached but the picture shows the separation. This is the ONLY apology! Otherwise, all is in excellent condition – even the little dangles hanging by tiny braided chains are all there. Everything is strong, tight, and beautifully finished…. A real credit to this early maker. The frame measures 15 inches tall and 10-1/4 inches across. The picture opening from the back is 6-1/2 X 4-1/2 inches and 4X6 at the front. I think it would also look great with a small mirror. It does not have glass. This unique frame would pair nicely with a variety of styles – mission, arts & crafts, country, even…. DOLL HOUSE ANTIQUE FOLK ART ARCHITECTURAL MODEL WOOD OOAK GREEN WHITE PAINT AAFA. Up for sale is this wonderful old antique Primitive architectural building / model or doll house. This is a 2-story wood house that has a gable roof. It’s sort of a single story with an attic conversion because there’s a window in the attic space. The roof comes off as you can see in the pictures! We think the exterior and roof is made of asphalt shingles. The walls are green and the roof is red. The trim is wood and it’s painted white. The paint is all peeled, aged and worn as you can see in the pictures. The paint has a lot of age to it as you can see in the pictures. There are two windows on the upstairs / attic area, one on the front of the house and one at the back of the house. There’s also a front and back door and they work. At the front there’s a porch and two windows under the porch. The front door works but is not painted. There are also four windows on left side of the house and three on the right side of the house. All of the windows have glass in them which is unusual for an old house like this. On the front, the floor of the porch is a nice weathered wood. The house does have a lot of edgewear, scrapes, chips, crackle, alligatoring, nicks, grunge, fading here and there, scuffs and chips! The front gable of the roof has a piece of roofing missing as you can see in the pictures. The house measures 29″ D x 20″ W x 24 H. Thank you for looking at this item. Mid century likely African American folk art painting circa 1960 modernism

Crawford (middle initial looks like “G”, could be another letter). Came from an estate in the Philadelphia area. Gouache and/or watercolor, possibly mixed media: on board. Approx 15″ X 21″ (including frame). Beautiful period, wood frame. Most likely mid century. Has aspects of modernism with a special folk art quality. I believe this artist is probably African American. I researched the address in Philadelphia where the artist lived (see photos). My friend, who is a well regarded art dealer also feels the artist is likely African American. Wonderful design element with the sun shining through the middle of the mountain range. Very beautiful, deep colors. Excellent composition, with a unique arrangement of the house, the cows and the layering of the field. Highly original work of art. I opened it to take better photos. See photo # 6, which reveals the full painting without the mat. I think with restoration, the mat lines for framing can easily be restored. I don’t think it is stain from the mat, but the lines that the framer drew when placing the mat. It does work as is, with the mat as seen in the other photos, though I rather like the larger, more complete painting when the mat is removed. Otherwise, very fine condition for it’s age. This is a wonderful example of Outsider Folk Art. This vintage Oil Painting features a Portrait Of an Old Man lighting a Cigarette. Awesome light source from the match creates very moody and expressive shadows on the mans face and the soft glow emanating from his hands peeks out between his fingers! Also there is a gentle glow from the windows behind the man that gives this painting depth and definition. The added texture of the paint is the icing on this cake! Signed but very difficult to read.
