Antique Aafa Folk Art Double Sided Checkerboard Original Paint Salmon Red Black
ANTIQUE AAFA FOLK ART DOUBLE SIDED CHECKERBOARD ORIGINAL PAINT SALMON RED BLACK. Up for sale is this old hand painted checkerboard. It has a great folk art feel to it! The board has a wood frame around it with the game board in the middle. The game board has black (slightly dark blue tint in places) squares with reddish / salmon colored squares. The checkerboard has worn edges, paint loss, fading, separation, surface cracks and hand wear. The board is an 8 x 8 game field. It appears to be made from one large piece of wood. It measures 15″ L x 15″ W and is about 1 thick at the edges. The back side is a game board also. That side has a Parcheesi? Board painted on it with the some. Green area gaming sections. This side also has worn edges, scrapes, round indentations on the surface, paint loss and hand wear. This is a very nice double-sided game board!! As mentioned, there’s some edge wear, paint loss, nicks, scrapes, splatters, scratches and dings. There are also some areas where the surface of the board has lifted a little. All of these “issues” are just as you’d expect from and item of this age… It’s still just fabulous!!! It’s a very nice piece for your collection. Thank you for looking at this item. VINTAGE FOLK ART OIL PAINTING FAMOUS HAITIAN ALEXANDRE GREGOIRE VOODOO CEREMONY. Original Haitian art painting for collecting and home or office decoration. Alexandre Gregoire is listed and well known by collectors b. Subject: Voodoo Ceremony Size: 15(W) X 24 (H) (Add 2 frame size). Medium: Oil on canvas. May show some signs of age , overall good (small crackelur top right). Alexandre Grégoire (August 29, 1922 July 28, 2001) was a Haitian painter who typically depicted scenes of Vodou, daily life, and historical events in the naïve style. Born in Jacmel, Grégoire was educated from 1930 to 1937 by the Christian Teaching Brothers, and then studied cabinet making at the Jacmel vocational school for two years. In 1939 he joined the army and played the tuba and saxophone in the army band. He stayed in the army until the 1950s; during the presidency of Paul Magloire he left the military and joined the band at the National Palace. In 1968, with the encouragement of his friends Préfete Duffaut and Pierre-Joseph Valcin and the help of the Centre dArt in Port-au-Prince, Grégoire began painting. All major credit cards.
