Pair of framed oil on burlap paintings by JOSE MARIA de SERVIN. Wonderful images of children — each holding a doll. Hand carved wood frames. In very good condition. Framed, matted and signed. Size including frame: 26 1/2″ x 33″. Jose Maria de Servin was a distinguished member of the group Young Artists of Jalisco. He was an art professor at University of Arizona for 15 years. He is a beloved and honored artist in Mexico and his earliest exhibitions were in the 40’s. Examples of his work can be found at the Legislative Palaces of Guadalajara where he collaborated with Jose Orozco, as well as throughout Mexico City. 19th Century Folk Art Painted Carved Wood Full Bodied Running Horse Weathervane

We are offering an original American. 19th century folk art painted and hand carved wood full bodied running horse weathervane. Stands 18″ tall x 22 1/2″ long at the most extreme points, with a maximum width of 2 1/4. We found this great old piece in a longtime collector’s estate in Los Angeles; we were told by the family that he bought it at an Americana Antiques show from a folk art dealer years ago, but we have no other information available. In very good condition. The traces of white and brown paint appear to be all original. Light overall wear commensurate with age. There is one 3/4″ x 1 1/4″ surface gouge to the left upper hind quarter section The lower part of the back right leg has been broken and is missing. Originally had a mane and tail. Old stapled repair at the muzzle across. Please study the photos as they are a part of the description. Offered here fresh out of an estate for the first time at no reserve. Original vintage WPA wooden sign. This is a true piece of Americana. The Works Progress Administration was formed in 1935 and the name was changed in 1939 to The Work Projects Administration. Vintage Carved Solid Wood Carousel Rocking Horse Hand Painted Folk Art

The horse is in really magnificent condition, the paint is vibrant and 99.5% intact. There are a couple nick and scuffs – a little on the ear tips you can see in the picture. Overall there is great detail paint – notice the gold painted horseshoes and added touches around the hooves. The actual horse measures approximately 46″ inches in length, 8″ inches wide and 14 1/2 inches in height. The horse on the oak base measures 49″ inches in length, 18 3/4″ inches wide and 18 3/4 inches in height. This piece weighs 61 pounds. Was told this is roughly 30 to 40 years old and the artist made 4 other pieces like this. Everyone that has seen this piece comments about what high quality and detail this horse has. A wonderful piece for your little one during this Holiday season. Please review all my pictures because they show greater detail and are considered as part of the description.
