Vintage Lion Statue Hand Painted Plaster Over Fiberglass Life Size Folk Art 39L

Vintage Roaring Lion Statue – Life Size. This lion is believed to be hand painted plaster over fiberglass. It has a solid bottom but is hollow inside. No signature or date was found and age is unknown. He has a beautiful patina with crackle in the paint as seen. Measures approximately 39″ long x 14″ wide x 18 high and weighs 23 pounds 12 ounces unpackaged. There is damage on the back end on the tail and a chip of the fiberglass missing with some cracks around it as well (see last two pictures). Previous owner tried to glue it back in place but even with the cracks and damage, it is still solid. There is some paint loss and scratch marks. Listen – you can almost hear him ROAR! Most of her works included subjects from the busy New York lifestyle. She was from Austria and emigrated to the US in 1956. She was also a singer having once performed at Carnegie Hall. This painting has all the authentic things needed including the photocopies of newspaper clippings that she put together on the back, including pictures, her business card and articles of herself almost as a collage on the back of her works. This baroque or rococo style figure of the late 1700s measures 13 3/8 tall on his 4 x 6 x 6 ½ pedestal and depicts a male saint holding a basket of food and raising his hand in blessing. The surface is very old (early to middle 1800s) and appears to be untouched with elaborate gilt damascene designs on the saints robe. The paint on his hand and face is chipped. Antique Carved Wood Folk Art Primitive Poodle Figurine Statue Painted

This listing features the antique carved and painted wood statue shown in the pictures and described in the title. Nice original condition with no major cracks, chips, or repairs. It’s not perfect but overall very good with only minor paint loss. I’ll add exact size tonight. I’m solo and have three kids. It does not mean I’m ignoring you. I offer good stuff with no games. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AT MY LISTINGS! This dog measures from nose to tail approx. No chips, cracks or repairs to the wood. This is actually from the 1930s according to the heirs. So I should not have stated “antique”. Plus, the owner of this dog told me something I need to mention: this carving was originally a lot darker, so much so there was no color to be seen. So he tried to clean it off with some type of solvent, and in the process he removed not only surface grime, but also the patina, and even some of the paint. So he stopped “cleaning” it halfway through the job-it still has some grime left. Then the guy tried to re-paint some of the green (on the base) but didn’t get the colors to match exactly. I swear it wasn’t me-I leave things alone just for this reason-I’ll ruin it somehow. Anyway, I’m not entirely sure what the guy did because he is quite old and does not remember, or explain things well at all. He mumbles so I can’t understand half the things he says. I offer a full guarantee for any reason (as with all my listings), so you can have a look at this carving and see if you like it. If I owned this, I’d wax the entire surface. It’s wax with stain.
