Antique 19C CUBIC BOX ORIGINAL PAINT GRAPHIC AAFA Primitive Folk Art Pantry Box. Super folky little 19th century box in original paint. Small pull on lid with carved seat for it to rest nearly flat when not in use. Possibly so it could be stacked with others, or just the box’s maker being creative. Lockable originally but it had some work done to it sometime in the 1800’s (see square nails in patch pics 13-15). It’s approx 7″W x 6″H. Aafa Early Antique Folk Art Bail Handle Bittersweet Painted Pantry Box

AAFA EARLY ANTIQUE FOLK ART BAIL HANDLE BITTERSWEET PAINTED PANTRY BOX. Up for sale is this beautiful 19th Century Early bail handle pantry box in original paint. We love the old Early paint and great patina on this beautiful bail handled pantry box. It’s round and has a round lid. The handle has a wood grip to grab it by and a wire handle. The wire goes in to the pantry box at the sides at a little metal escutcheon. The top has a piece of wood missing off the rim as you can see in the pictures. The bottom of the pantry box has some dings nicks and scrapes as you can see in the pictures. Inside it’s very clean but does have a little “old” smell to it inside. It has some age and wear, wood loss, paint loss, dents, scratches and minor cracks but is still solid. It measures 11.25″ in diameter and about 6.5″ high. It weighs about 2 lbs. Circa second-quarter 19th century large, thick walled oval pantry box in original Green paint with some blue notes probably from oxidation. Two fingers from right-to-left, top of lid with initials “EK” in original mustard. Folky, great untouched dry surface, nice patina throughout. One bottom end with damage and minor loss (see pics 13 & 14). Sturdy old box with tight fitting lid. Generously sized at approx 12″L x 10″W x 3.5H. Antique 19thC NEW ENGLAND PANTRY BOX CELERY-GREEN PAINT AAFA Folk Art Primitive. Recently brought home from New Hampshire: One of the best pantry boxes I’ve handled as far as surface and form go (and size to boot). It’s approx 8″W across the top (by) 5.75″H. Early 19th century, no later than 1840. Original color was probably yellow or white which oxidized to a wonderful and unusual celery-heart-green. Chunky, thick, swamped with patina. Long, slender fingers of opposing arrangement snug to the body with symetrically placed iron nails. Body with straight, nailed seam. Flared and chamfered handle, carved mushroom pegs. Top and bottom boards are nailed not pegged. Shaker-quality craftsmanship with said characteristics, it may be Hingham-made but certainly New England origin (not signed). The handle in its down position resisted the elements which would redefine the surrounding surface over decades, when lifted you can see the yellow under it (see last pic).
