Beautiful and authentic 19th-century hand-painted portrait of a gentleman with mutton-chop sideburns, rendered in oil on stretched linen canvas. The vivid green background and formal attire reflect classic Victorian-era studio portraiture or folk art style, circa 1880s-1890s. The painting remains on its original wood stretcher and comes with its ornate carved wood frame featuring a heart-cut border design. Frame shows a rich aged patina and minor finish wear consistent with age. Canvas edges exhibit fraying, tack holes, and small wear spots typical for its period (see photos). There are light surface marks, one small puncture, and age-related toning, but no large tears or repairs detected. Canvas: Original, stretched; frayed corners and tack holes visible; age toning on reverse. Painting: Intact, vivid coloration; some surface wear, scuffs, and mild stains. Frame: Original carved wood with patina, wear, and light chipping; solid structure. Frame: 21″ wide × 25″ tall.

Large Old Vintage Hand Made Painted Wood Folk Art Primitive Whirligig. Made of scrap wood & metal with a figure of a man & a woman turning the whirligig mechanism when the wind blows. Still works as designed! Measures approximately 30″ long x 26-1/2″ high x 14 wide at the widest point. Condition is old with much weather use wear including losses to the wood & paint. Several newer metal pieces were apparently used over time to stabilize the whirligig (screws & metal rings). The clothing on the male & female figures must have been replaced several times over the years (made from rags). The top part is removable from the base (just lifts off). Still works fine if properly mounted outdoors. Please view all the pictures.

We are offing this Rustic primitive reddish brown painted document box. This box is probably mid 19th century American and has pine body and dovetail joints. Condition: Good antique condition with some surface damages and wear. Height 5 1/8 Inches 13.1 cm. Width 12 3/4 Inches 32.5 cm. Depth 7 3/8 Inches 18.8 cm.
