Spindle turnings will not be uniform and swell unevenly with age. Wood tends to get stress fractures on support systems and where wide board construction is used. 85% of 18th Century veneers have had some restoration during their life. Pine secondary woods might fracture, making overlays and veneers having the same fracture lines. Old finishes might alligator, fade, fisheye or darken, depending on where the pieces were placed. All of these are desired by a true collector and gives it personality. Do not expect these early pieces to be like new. These pieces age gracefully just as we do, giving them unique personality.
