You are viewing a n antique early Victorian painted silhouette of a large family 11 including the dog/pony! I would estimate it was painted sometime around 1840. This silhouette is one of three all from the same source, and all three were painted on card on the back of an old print. It also looks like all three silhouettes were framed at some point as they show evidence of yellowing where a frame once displayed them. This silhouette measures approximately 4 1/4 inches by 8 inches and has been matted in a modern mat which measures 6 1/2 by 9 1/4 inches. It is in great condition with no tears or holes.
