Offered for your consideration is an antique maritime painting. It was executed in oil on board and measures 12″ x 18 1/2″. There are some areas of loss notable in the lower left corner as shown, and the surface is dirty. There is a partial newspaper article affixed to the back I added the plastic to preserve the paper as it was rapidly flaking off! That describes the scene. By researching the partial article I found a match to an article in the New Orleans Bee newspaper dated Saturday July 16, 1898. Just a very cool antique maritime painting with an unusual story to add to your collection! Antique magician’s travelling box of tricks, c. Great paint and folky hand-painted lettering. “Zurando” the Great apparently performed with this painted leather-clad box for many years an earlier version of his impressive title is visible under the outer layer of paint. These types of travelling cases were typically designed to carry fraternal regalia, but its size and design clearly worked well for Zurando’s magical endeavors. It sadly no longer contains his tricks, but in my spell book, the case is magic in itself. Good antique condition for a well-travelled box having endured many years of great magic, with chips to exterior paint and other expected wear. This offering is for a mid 19th century Folk Art Tinsel Painting. The artwork was done using a technique of reverse painting on glass combined with colored tinsel or foil. The overall size including the frame is app. 12.25″ by 14.75″. The design incorporates a floral wreath surrounding a period print of a mother and child. There is minor crazing to the black paint but very little if any actual loss and the artwork displays beautifully. Great antique folk art decoy this primitive guy has loads of charm he comes with this antique milking stool a great display tighter. He is a working decoy so lots of wonderful wear bottom has a crack which is normal in these decoys but it is stable he is 13 long with old tack eyes really a special little guy.
