The antique hanging backboard measures 33 3/4″ tall x 7 1/4″ wide and is 7/8 thick. The old metal bracket protrudes 7 7/8 out from the backboard. Original red paint on the backboard and early saw marks. There is a hanging wire on the back as well as two holes at the top for additional hanging strength. The backboard itself weighs over 5 Lbs. EARLY AAFA ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE FOLK ART FIRKIN WOOD BUCKET ORIGINAL WHITE PAINT. Up for sale is this wonderful white and blue firkin!! Some people call them a flour buckets, sugar buckets, pales or pantry boxes!! Wow, look at the wonderful color and character of this cute little firkin!!! It appears to be their untouched original paint. It’s a white, off-white color on the sides and a blue-ish green (it’s not blue) color on the lid. We’re not sure if the lid is original. This firkin is the small in stature but large in character! It has a wire handle with a wood grip on it and a small metal escutcheon where the wire handle connects to the firkin. It has finger bands and they are nailed and then at the end they have a little staple in them. The bands and the staves are pretty tight on this firkin. This firkin is very clean inside but it’s lid has some wear and loss around the bottom rim of the lid as you can see in the close up picture of the lid. Inside the firkin has white drips as you can see in the pictures. The color is creamy, grungy off-white and not a white white. The lid is a blue-ish green. The paint is crackled, dry and very flat in finish. This firkin measures 7″ at the bottom and 6.25″ at the top (outside of lid) and it’s about 6.75 high. It weighs about 1.25 lbs. This firkin is painted and has some fading, crackling paint, edgewear, divots in the surface, streaks, paint loss, wood missing here and there, streaks, paint loss, paint chips, grunge and patina. The condition is exactly what you want to see in old true antique!! Please look at the photos for a more accurate description and detail and ask lots of questions if needed. DOLL HOUSE ANTIQUE FOLK ART ARCHITECTURAL MODEL WOOD OOAK YELLOW PAINT AAFA. Up for sale is this wonderful old antique Primitive a. Rchitectural building / model or doll house. This is a 2-story wood. House that has a gable roof and a cute little dormer on the front. The roof does not come off but the bottom is open (no bottom) so you can get inside!! It has a wood exterior with yellow paint and green trim. The paint is all crackled and grungy / patina-ed as you can see in the pictures. The roof is made from asphalt shingles and it’s green. There’s a gable on each end left and right and a little, small dormer / gable on the front of the house. The little dormer has a wood roof. The outside of the house is yellow crackled paint with grunge-patina. The windows are simple, Primitive windows with a little brown decorative element over the top of them. The front door is brown wood and does work on its little hinges. The back of the house is a red painted couple of pieces of wood. The trim around the roof is green and so is the “base” of the house which is a line around the bottom of the house meant to look a little bit like a raised foundation. Inside the house it’s all open. It is painted inside a very light, soft robin’s egg blue color. It’s pretty dusty inside. On the back wall there’s a large paper picture of 3 boys, 3 teddy bears and their mother. The house has 13 windows (5 on the front and 4 on each side) and 1 door on the front. The windows are clear glass and all but one (front upstairs middle window) have the glass still in tact. You can see through the first and second story windows. The back of the house is just a wall. Overall the paint is in really old, but great-patina shape considering its age. The house does have a lot of edgewear scrapes, chips, crackle, alligatoring, nicks, grunge, fading here and there, scuffs and chips! The house measures 12.5″ wide x 10.5″ deep (at the yellow part) and 13.25″ long x 12.5″ wide at the roof line x 15 high to the top of the roof gable. It weighs about 8 lbs. EARLY ANTIQUE FOLK ART PRIMITIVE WOOD DRY GREY GRAY CABINET CUPBOARD CRACKLE PAINT. Up for sale is this wonderful old primitive cabinet or cupboard. It’s a nice sized four door cabinet with shelves inside! There are two doors on top and two doors on the bottom. The bottom is a little deeper than the top and so there’s a little ledge / stepback part between the top and the bottom. The top doors slide against the little stepback part some and need to be lifted a little when opening them. The bottom doors work nicely. It’s a wonderful dry wood, grey in color with crackled, crazed and worn paint. Underneath is a wood color, possibly red color. Over time, the sides have worn near the bottom and so the cabinet tends to lean forward slightly. We’ve put shims under the front of the cabinet to keep it from leaning forward. The paint appears to be all original and is dry, worn, rubbed, scraped, chipped, nicked, edge worn and patina-ed! The wood is all bead board on the front doors and the sides. Inside the bottom shelf comes out if you want to take it out. The inside looks all original with great patina! The back is all original made of old wood boards with four metal repairs to cover holes and on the corner. This is everything you’d expect to see from an old survivor cabinet like this! What a great look!! The doors have the original iron and porcelain slid latches as you can see in the pictures. There’s also a wood latch near the bottom on the front. Underneath the cabinet has wood boards with a few mouse holes in it. The hinges are heavy duty pin hinges. We don’t know the age or origin of this cabinet but we do know that it’s adorable! Please see photos for accurate detail and description. The pictures are pretty good for the color, especially the close up ones. It’s a great old cabinet / cupboard!! The cabinet measures 71″ H in the back and 72″ H in the front with 36.5″ H to the stepback part x 50.25″ W x 19″ D at the bottom x 13″ D at the top. We can also recommend a couple of shippers. Fine Matched Pair Lady & Gentleman Early American Folk Art Portrait Paintings
For your consideration is this fine pair of early American folk portraits. They are in gold wood frames that measure 33 1/2 x 27 1/2 overall with the framed image measuring just over 30×24. These are original oil on canvas portraits of a lady and a gentleman that have been laid down on Masonite panel. These have been in the same family since the 1950’s when they were found in a barn in Girard, in Macoupin County, Illinois. No one is completely certain, but it is believed the restoration and conservation seen today was completed at that time. The frames and Masonite panels would match that time period. These were obviously done by one of the more proficient folk artists of the time period. It would appear these would date nearer the end of the run for the heyday of folk portraiture, say after 1830. And like most from that timeframe, appear to be unsigned. The sitters are unknown as well but advances in scholarly attribution continue to put more names with faces everyday. The images contain many pieces to the puzzle with additions like chair arms, her book and his cane all potentially helping with the case for attribution. Not to mention wardrobe, facial details and artistic technique. They certainly are the caliber of and share some similarities to the work of well known painter Ammi Phillips. That being said, they are being offered here with the sitters as well as the artist being unknown. No one is certain when, where or by whom the conservation work was completed. In the right light an area of restoration shows on the gentleman’s right shoulder. Otherwise one can assume there may have been typical amounts of random in painting associated with art from this time period. They have not been examined by a professional conservator at this point nor have they been offered for sale in the last 65 years or so. This listing and price is for both portraits. We realize these represent a significant investment and can contain many variables. We pledge our complete cooperation with any seriously interested party, including additional photos, further questions, etc. Please study the photos and ask any questions you may have. Needless to say these are estate fresh so help yourself. The item “Fine Matched Pair Lady & Gentleman Early American Folk Art Portrait Paintings” is in sale since Sunday, October 01, 2017.
