Antique Mallard Hen Duck Decoy! This duck is rough-hewn wood with its original paint and has glass eyes. It measures about 17 long from tip of the bill to the end of the tail feathers and weighs about two pounds. While I did not find a maker’s mark, it appears to be from early 20th century and is a very attractive piece. Please see condition description and pics. I have had several of these for over 15 years and added my last one just last year. Please ask any questions before I leave! Please enlarge the photos for the very best description! PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS EARLY BEFORE I LEAVE! DESCRIPTION: (BE SURE TO ENLARGE THE PHOTOS FOR THE VERY BEST DESCRIPTION). I believe this is a pintail duck decoy. I love the carving around the beak and through the eyes. There is some paint wear to the head and neck, but not bad. The body shows some dirtiness. I have never touched it to clean it in any way. The tail shows some wear to the outer edges of the wood. Please use the pictures and enlarge them for the very best description! This decoy is solid and weighs 2lbs 5ozs while measuring 16 3/4 inches in length from the tip of the bill to the end of the tail. I found this decoy over 15 years ago at a shop in north central Illinois. I WILL BE GONE FROM MARCH 3 UNTIL MARCH 13. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS EARLY SO THAT I CAN ANSWER THEM BEFORE I LEAVE. The wood bill goes through the back of the head and originally this Curlew bill would have curved down at least at least another two inches. This break is the only problem and the painted is guaranteed to be the first, dry paint. I was told that this long billed Curlew Decoy originated on Nantucket Island, RI.
