EARLY AAFA ANTIQUE FOLK ART CUPBOARD SQUARE NAILS DOVETAILED ORIGINAL RED AND BLUE PAINT SIGNED AND DATED 1855. Up for sale is this fabulous old cabinet or cupboard. It’s a nice old cupboard with wonderful red and blue color. It’s a two-door cabinet with seven shelves inside. We don’t know how old it is, but it’s dated 1855 and looks early 1800’s to us! The cabinet is beautiful worn and patina-ed. The cabinet measures 61.25″ W x 40.75″ H x 15.5 D. All dimensions are without the molding. This old cabinet is a survivor. The back is made from four wide vertical boards as you can see in the pictures. There are big square nails along with other, smaller round nails, and some round nails too. There’s also a couple of places where there’s some old damage as you can see in the photos. The damage appears to be very old. It’s a wonderful dry wood and is a beautiful red color with blue trim and blue inside the doors. The paint appears to be all original. The top has a trim / molding on it but only across. The molding on the left and right sides is missing. The back is not painted. The paint is dry, worn, rubbed, scraped, chipped, nicked, faded, edge-worn. On the front doors, there are moldings on each door. The bottom moldings on the doors have lifted a little. There’s also a center astragal as you can see in the pictures. The knobs on the doors are mushroom-like. The knobs have worn over time and show it some. Around the knob on the left side there’s a lot of hand wear and the paint has worn off the door. On the top middle part of the doors there’s little floral motif in a cream color. Above the molding there is 18 on the left door and 55 on the right door. There are also initials, it appears to say L. The hinges are heavy forged iron hinges with big straps on the inside of the doors. There are big peened nails in the hinges as you can see in the pictures. On top you can see the big dovetails where the top is dovetailed in to the sides and vice versa. Inside the shelves are not all nailed in and some shelves are in two parts. The ledgers that hold the shelves appear to be very old if not original. You can see on the outside of the sides where some of the nails poked through. There is one newer board on the lower left inside. One shelf has a cabinet catch to hold the right door shut. With the astragal the right door hold the left door shut. And, there are some mouse holes. We have some felt pads on the bottom that you can see in the pictures. There are more pads on one side than the other. If you get the cabinet, it might need to be shimmed in order to get it more level. We don’t know the age or origin of this cabinet but we do know that it’s special! Please see photos for accurate detail and description. The pictures are pretty good for the color, especially the close-up ones. It’s a great old cabinet/cupboard!! We can also recommend a couple of shippers. This is a great cabinet! We regularly put up new items so check out our other items! We will do our best to answer your questions. We will do the same. We couldn’t sell anything if it wasn’t for you and the time you have taken to spend looking at our items. As a very small business we strive to keep you as our customer! We GUARANTEE that your item(s) will be received as described. Early Aafa Folk Art Antique Original Hand Painted Blue Wall Cabinet Wood Dated
AAFA FOLK ART ANTIQUE EARLY 1800s ORIGINAL HAND PAINTED BLUE WOOD WALL CABINET WITH WOOD DOWELS. Up for sale is this unbelievably amazing single door cabinet. It’s a wall cabinet and is all hand painted with reddish trim and tremendous patina. It’s dated 18xx something. We can’t read the other two numbers but at the top of the door it says “18”. At the bottom we can’t read the other numbers. There are also some intials on the door, and those appear to be AJL or FJL but they are very hard to read. The door has a crack in it but hey, at this age, what did you expect? ! Underneath the door there’s a little drawer. It is a very heavy cabinet and weighs 60 lbs!! It’s heavy duty old school wood. The wood is 7/8 thick! It’s also dovetailed at the top. Along the front, there are wood dowels along the trim and you can see them in the pictures. On the front it has old hardware including rusty old iron pin-type hinges, a rusty escutcheon around the key hole (we don’t have the key) and an old rusty nail that operates as a hold closed. Inside there’s a little shelf in the middle and a cup hook shelf above. The trim is very pronounced on this cabinet including the crown molding around the top of the cabinet. The crown appears to be about 1/4 above the paint line on the cabinet. There’s also a trim around the middle of the cabinet and one at the bottom of the cabinet. At the top, the trim is cracked as you can see in the pictures. This looks like and old break to us. At the bottom there’s been a little damage to the trim on the front and both sides as the trim is light and the cabinet is heavy. The paint appears to be all original and is dry, faded, worn, rubbed, scraped, chipped, nicked, edge worn, alligator-ed and patina-ed! This is everything you’d expect to see from an old survivor cabinet like this! What a great look!! You will never see another one of these again! It’s truly one of a kind OOAK! Please see photos for accurate detail and description. The pictures are pretty good for the color, especially the close up ones. It’s a great old cabinet / cupboard!! 33 inches high to the top and 29.25 inches high to the main cabinet. 22.25 inches wide at the trim and 19.75 inches wide at cabinet. 13.25 deep at trim and. 12.25 deep at cabinet. Rawer is 14.5 inches wide and 4.75 inches high. Oor is 14.5 inches wide and 16 inches high. Thank you for looking at this item. Let us know if you have any questions. We are back and will be regularly putting up new items so check out our other items. We will do our best to answer your questions. We will handle them on a case-by-case basis. We will do the same.
