Here is a wonderful early carved wood painted dog that looks like a spaniel. Ive had this for quite a while and I have never cleaned it. Its dirty and dusty and it looks just the way it did when I found it. The hind leg in the last picture needs to be reattached which can be done very easily with a little wood glue. The dogs left ear is a little loose so youll need to be careful when moving it. That too is a quick and easy fix. This is a really great carving thats at the very least 100 years old. The detail is unbelievable and the paint and the patina is perfect. Its just an amazing piece of folk that should be enjoyed by a true dog lover. ANTIQUE FOLK ART ARCHITECTURAL MODEL OLD CHURCH WOOD OOAK. Up for sale is this wonderful old antique church / architectural building / model or doll house. This is a large Gothic style cathedral that has a roof and 3 spires. The roof does not come off. It looks like it has a wood exterior with grey paint, brown trim and blue windows. The reddish roof is a shake-style steep pitched roof with metal gutters along the edges of the roof. The spires are painted red with a brick pattern and black roofs / spires, one with a metal cross on it. The others are on there pretty good so we won’t take those off, not that we can. It measures 27″ to the top of the spires, about 20″ W and about 24 D. It weighs a hefty 35 lbs. Clearly this is a European church. We don’t know the age of the model of the name of the church. It’s old and it’s heavy. Over the front entrance there’s a little metal awning and on the side of the entrance there are two brown wood logs, or posts. The logs are not glue in place and may come out from under the awning. And, the awning and front wall move back and forth a little if you push on it, so don’t push on it. On the ground around the church are some flat green things. We think these might be pieces of vinyl. They gotten chipped, worn, broken and missing over the years, so please review the pictures on those items. The church does have a lot of edgewear, scrapes, chips, crackle, alligatoring, nicks, grunge, fading here and there, scuffs, pieces missing and chips! The house measures 23.5″ D x 15.5″ W x 21.5 H. EARLY AAFA ANTIQUE FOLK ART STAVED WOOD FIRKIN ORIGINAL GREEN PAINT. Up for sale is this wonderful old firkin!! Some people call them sap buckets, pantry boxes, flour buckets or grain measures!! This one has a nice worn deep green sides with black bands! This firkin measure is about. 10.75 in dia at bottom x 9.25 in dia at top and about. 10 h to the firkin and 11.25 h with knob. This firkin is a nice size and is big in character!! The firkin has three bands, one around the bottom, one in the middle and one band around the top of the firkin. Inside, it’s clean for its age and has some staining as you can see. There is not odor to it. The lid it heavy and has more paint loss than the sides of the firkin. The knob is white and is porcelain. The lid is heavy. The firkin has a bale wire and a wooden handle as you can see in the pictures. There’s a little wear spot under where the wood handle comes down on the outside of the green. On the outside is has some areas of paint loss and wear with dry paint, edgewear, streaks, paint loss, paint chips, nicks. There is a lot of edgewear around the bottom of the firkin. ANTIQUE BREAD BOX VAN DYKE BAKERY DETROIT METAL BREAD BOX PATRIOTIC FLAG STARS. Up for sale is this fabulous antique bread box! It’s big, it’s beautiful and it’s old! It’s from the Van Dyke Bakery, which, after a little research, we determined was in Detroit, MI. We don’t see any references on the internet to the company after 1917. There are several ads and articles before then, but not after 1917. We’re not sure what this means. The box is all metal and wood as you can see in the pictures. The box is yellow with a shield of red, white and blue (now mostly black). It has two shields painted on the front that say. On the side it says. 245 Van Dyke Ave. With a little research we found that this is in Detroit as was the bakery. It’s a big boy and measures 28″ wide x 20.5″ deep x 20 high and it weighs a hefty 38 lbs! It has a flip top lid on it with cool old hinges on it. Inside it’s a lighter color and has some rustiness to it. The bottom is pretty rusty / grungy and the sides are pretty scraped and marked up. On the outside you can see the wood frames that make the box and then the metal panels that make up the sides of the bread box. The wood had metal corner protectors and those are rusty too. The paint is all alligatored, crackled, and patina-ed as you can see in the pictures. It’s been very used over the years and has lots of scrape, grunge and patina but it’s a great look!! This is a rare find! It has some fading, crackling paint, edgewear, paint loss, wood missing, paint chips, and patina. OOAK ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE FOLK ART AAFA PIE SAFE ORIGINAL BLUE ALLIGATOR PAINT ORIGINAL SCREENS!!! Up for sale is this amazing old pie safe. This is the real deal!! It’s old, it’s Primitive and it’s fabulous! 37 1/4″ W x 40.5″ H x 10.75 D. It’s a rare, one-of-a-kind white, folksy, screened pie safe. It has two doors on it with old Shaker style hinges as you can see in the pictures. The doors work well and the right door has a little wood thumb turn at the top to hold it shut against the cabinet. The cabinet then has a piece of wood down the middle of the cabinet. The left door does not have a thumb turn that holds the left door shut but it doesn’t open on it’s own for us. The doors are old. And there’s a little play in the doors on the hinges and when they are closed. The doors are 3/4 thick. It’s a wonderful and nice blue color. The screens are old, out of shape, a little rusty, perhaps have some paint on them and have a few holes here and there. Inside there are three shelves and they are a grungy, worn and well-used white. The shelves are slightly over 3/4 thick. The back is made from 4 old, wide and cracked boards and one across the top. There are big square nails in the boards on the back and and most of them are painted over in the color of the back which is a lighter, and probably newer blue than the front as it’s not alligatored or crackled like the blue on the front. The top is not painted but is very aged and has rusty nails. There are also some scratches, nicks, chips, surface rust, paint loss, alligator paint, crackle, hand rub wear, edge wear, paint marks and patina. These are all things you want to see in a true antique – don’t you just love it? ! ? ! It’s a very nice piece for your collection. Thank you for looking at this item. EARLY AAFA ANTIQUE FOLK ART APOTHECARY CABINET ORIGINAL PAINT. Up for sale is this wonderful three-drawer apothecary cabinet. It has two equal sized drawers on the top row and one on the bottom each with its own little mushroom style pull. The color is a medium brown with a lot of alligatoring. It has edge wear and the paint is scuffed. What a great look! 24.75″ L x 15″ D x 10.5 H. The bottom drawer 17.25″ W x 12.25″ D x 2.25 H. Top drawers 7.25″ W x 12.25″ D x 2 H. It’s sturdy and it’s heavy, weighing in around 25 lbs. The top is made from two pieces of wood and is the wonderful brown. The back is wood also and has some holes in it and marks on it as you can see. The drawers are butt jointed and of solid wood. They have old round nails in the bottoms and sides as you can see in the pictures. All the drawers work well. On the bottom of one of the drawers you can clearly see vertical kerfing, the kind that comes from a mechanical saw. With a little research we found that the first mechanical vertical saws were in use around 1840 and later, in to the early 1900’s. After that it was more common that circular kerfing was found by the more effective mechanical circular milling saws. So, this dates this from the mid-late 1800’s most likely. On the fronts of the drawers there are mushroom type knobs and each knob. There are also little escutcheons for a lock on each drawer. Two of the three escutcheons are there but the upper left one is missing. The locks are still there but we don’t have the keys. It is a wonderful and one of a kind item! There are nicks, scrapes, dings. Paint loss, paint drips, paint chips, and worn finish as you can see in the pictures but nothing you wouldn’t expect from an item of this age.
