4 Victorian Children in Rural Landscape. Folk art oil on canvas painting. Naive or primitive style. This is a lovely folk art (naive, primitive, outsider) oil on canvas portrait of four children of various ages, including three girls and one boy, in a natural landscape setting. The sumptuous Victorian costume suggests that it was likely commissioned by a wealthy family during the latter half of the 19th century. The canvas-maker’s stamp on the reverse side, “WINSOR & NEWTON, 38, RATHBONE PLACE, LONDON, ” indicates that the work is likely English in origin. The painting is by an unknown (likely itinerant) artist; unsigned; framed in a gold gesso frame. The face of the painting is in good condition. Partial relining along bottom (full edge) and top edge (4″-5″ section only) of canvas. 5 small scratches, scuffs (edges – where canvas meets stretcher); 1 dent approx. 1/16; 2 patch repairs (not visible, except from back). Frame is in good condition (for its age). STRETCHER SIZE: 27.5 inches x 33 inches (69.85 cm x 83.82 cm). FRAME SIZE: 34.75 inches x 39.5 inches x 3 inches (88.265 cm x 100.33 cm x 7.62 cm). Nicely pyramided folk art TRAMP ART picture frame in highly oxidized mellow gold

Here is a good early tramp art frame completely covered by carved pyramided layers, done with precision and skill, four deep high? The gold finish, either paint or bronze powder, has oxidized and mellowed to a pleasing darkness. Just for fun I have put in an advertising print for NASH, circa 1950’s, which is in a mat with a 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ opening. I think the car is a Nash Ambassador – doesn’t the driver look happy? After all, it was their top of the line model! Absolutely nothing wrong with this frame; the condition is perfect for its age and it has had decades to develop a very rich patina. What a unique piece this piece was found in an old Barn In beautiful Pennsylvania. The rocking horse is in great condition with no damage but the horse does exhibit some minimal ware. The horse measures 34 1/2 long by 12 wide by 20 tall. The horse is one of a kind and was hand made of old wooden crates with nails and flat head screws along time ago this is a beautiful piece suitable for any antique collection. TERRIFIC PAINT DECORATED TRAVEL TRUNK. About 20 1/4″ x 10″ x 10. Beautiful paint decorated dome top travel / storage trunk. Hand painted double arched panels on the sides and front, with images of tulips and other flowers in a vase, surrounded by curling vine flourishes. Similar panels on the lid ends. Maroon painted background on the body, dark blue on the dome top. Brass butt hinges and brass painted iron lock hardware (no key). Light cream interior, matching the background of the panels. Some minor paint loss, particularly around the edges, commensurate with age and use. Age drying crack in the lid (all visible in the images). A FINE EXAMPLE OF A 19TH CENTURY FOLK ART PAINTED TRUNK.
