ANTIQUE AAFA FOLK ART DOUBLE SIDED CHECKERBOARD ORIGINAL PAINT RED AND WHITE. Up for sale is this old hand painted checkerboard. It has a great folk art feel to it! The board is red and white with worn edges, paint loss and hand wear. The gaming part has beautiful bright red with white color alternating squares. The board is a 12 x 12 game field. It appears to be made from one large piece of wood with a couple of cracks in it. It measures 29 L x 18 W and is about 1.25 thick. It weighs about 7 lbs. There are two newer picture hangers on the back side to hang the checkerboard on the wall. You can see this in the pictures. Also on the back is a game. We dont know what the game is, but its black rectilinear lines with a cross looking thing in the center of the board. This side also has worn edges, scrapes and hand wear. This is a GREAT double-sided game board!! As mentioned, theres some edge wear, paint loss, nicks, scrapes, scratches and dings. Also, at the side of each players side, there was probably a small wood trim that would separate their checkers from the playing field. The paint is missing along this thin line as you can see in the pictures. All of these issues are just as youd expect from and item of this age. Its still just fabulous!!! He was a self-taught folk artist who began producing outsider art late in life. He gained recognition in the 80s and was subsequently in Museums throughout the US. He is well known and one of the more notable folk artists in the US. Miller at Folk Fest in Atlanta. I can still see him wandering around in his overalls. This is a great Signed double sided Rooster metal cutout. One side is brightly colored with a yellow background, highlighted with red, purple, blue and bright red wings. The other side is yellow and red. The comb, beak and feet are bright red on both sides. At its longest, the cutout is approximately 21 and it is about 11 tall. AAFA FOLK ART SINGLE SIDED GAME CHECKER BOARD ORIGINAL RED PAINT SQUARE NAILS. Up for sale is this old hand-painted checker / game board. It has a great folk art feel to it! The board is a wonderful red color with cream-colored squares. It’s an 8 x 8 game board. There is paint loss, edge wear and hand wear but it looks just great! The game is on a two-piece board as we hope you can see in the pictures. We don’t know when the game was painted on but it looks old to us. It’s got great colors! The checkerboard has bread board ends and in the upper left corner there’s some chunks of wood missing. There are old rusty nails in the bread board ends. And, on the sides, the edging is a bluish color as you can see in the pictures. There are a couple of square nails which we tried to show in the pictures. Not all of the nails are square nails. Also on the top there is a nice round hook to hang it up by. On the back, the one smaller board is a different color and the bigger board is a wood color. There are two hangers on the back as you can see in the pictures. It measures 23.5″ L x 13.5″ W x 1 thick the main wood is. As mentioned, there’s some paint loss, nicks, scrapes, scratches, worn edges and dings. All of these “issues” are just as you’d expect from an item of this age… It’s still just a neat old board!! CAFE FIGARO ANTIQUE AAFA WOODEN PAINTED ADVERTISING TRADE SIGN SAN FRANCISCO? Up for sale is this wonderful old painted sign. We don’t know the age of this sign but it looks old to us, you make the call. It’s painted and has an old white / oyster white background with red letters. It’s a wood sign and the top part (possibly all of it) appears to be plywood. It’s worn and faded in places, and a little dirty around the edges perhaps, but it has a great look to it and a wonderful old look. It’s double sided and the back side is about the same except that it also has a wire to hang the sign up by. 19.75 inches wide by 17 inches high by 1.75 inches deep at the trim and 3/4 inches deep at the main sign. It’s a great sign! It has some fading, crackling paint, edge-wear, paint loss, wood missing, paint chips. The board is a dark red with black squares and trim and there is paint loss, edgewear and handwear. The game is on what might be a masonite board with a wood frame as we hope you can see in the pictures. There’s a warp in the board as it goes over the board in the middle of the back. We tried to show the warp in the pictures so please look at them closely. We don’t know when the game was painted on but it looks old to us. It’s got great colors! Reuben Aaron Miller (July 22,1912 March 7, 2006) was a self-taught folk artist, best known for his whirligigs, metal cutouts and drawings. His work gained wider recognition in the 1980s, when it wasfeatured in a twenty-minute music video. And subsequently exhibited in museums of art. Widely collected, and in constant demand, Miller is acknowledged as one of the more notablesenior folk artists in the United States. Miller dropped out of school at the age of 12 and went to work in a cotton mill. He also chopped wood for 50 cents a load. Later in life he served as an ordained minister for the Free WillBaptist Church. Miller used his artwork to help spread the word of God. His materials consisted of paint, magic marker, tin, bicycle parts, and scrap metal. His work generall yconsisted of animal and human figures, and short inspirational messages, most notably Lord Love You. The Georgia Museum of Art organized a retrospective of Miller’s work in 2009. 24″ x 14.5″ on painted scrap sheet metal , signed R.
