Andrzej Galek COSSACK CAMP Polish Reverse Glass Folk Art Painting 1960s. Mid Century painting on glass by artist Andrzej Galek depicting folklore from Poland Old Region of Tatra Mountains, three Cossacks involved in various camp activities, one man is digging the ground with a shovel, while another smoking a pipe watches, and another is drinking from a flask. Signature at bottom, A. Galek middle of painting (is faded, but still discernible). Wood framed entire piece measures 11″high x 12 7/8″wide. Very good condition, frame shows wear. Andrzej Galek, was a Polish artist and architect, sometimes known as Andrew Knob. Galek was honored by Poland’s Ministry of Art and Culture, and was the son of noted Polish artist, Stanislaw Galek/Knob. The artist passed away in 1993. This is an Estate Item, please see photos. OLD Polish Listed Artist Fine Folk Art PAINTING Artwork EXHIBITED at a MUSEUM $$
Up for sale here is an original, one of a kind gouache and watercolor painting by well collected contemporary Polish painter and illustrator Jozef Wilkon (born 1930). This fine painting dates most likely from between 1973 and 1974 but it could be earlier. The artist’s title for this work is “Girl in Flower Garden, Night”. The painting only measures 6 1/2 inches high by. 4 3/8 inches across. The total size with the frame comes to 15 inches by 12 1/2 inches. The painting is signed by the artist in the bottom center of the painting. This painting was also exhibited at the very popular Chicago area Museum, The Polish Museum of America, on April 4, 1976 and still retains the exhibition label on the back. The work was framed in the Chicago area at Schwartz Picture Frame Co in 1974 and has a framer’s label on the back as well. The painting is in very good condition with bright colors and no cracking or flaking to the paint. The backing paper has tears but we didn’t want to remove it since the labels were on there and the piece is still sealed quite well. Jozef Wilkon has illustrated many books over his lifetime and he is quite a prolific artist but not a whole lot of his original paintings are floating around out there. Large Folk Art Hand Painted Decorated Peasant Trunk Polish
Up for your consideration is a folk painted wood peasant trunk with dome lid. The paint is worn away is some small spots around the trunk exposing the bright pink paint underneath (see photos). This trunk has some wear but is still an incredible decorator piece. The size is 21 1/2″ from floor to top of dome, 27 1/2″ from side to side, 15 3/4 from back to front.
