Reverend Bill Comeau Outsider Folk Art Painting Singer Musician Rock Star. Acrylic on canvas board. Measures 24″ x 18″. Comeau”, titled “Rock Star on back. Back reads: My dad was in a band called’The Four Sharps. He played the sax and was the singer. As his son; I became a singer, songwriter who couldn’t read music. I was also a poet. Max Mays and I would have breakfast at’T’s’ every week. I wanted to quit painting but Max said’No. We also talk about a book of his work, that’s what this is. A selection of Max personally chosen art to share with you, enjoy, and know Max always told me if God gives you a gift- share it with the world. Comeau was a student of Corita Kent, having met in 1968 when he and Kent were hired to produce materials for their churches. The pair stayed in contact until Kent’s death, having collaborated on prints utilizing Comeau’s art and Kent’s calligraphy.

This small oil painting was found at a local estate. It depicts a town or city on the edge of a body of water reminiscent of the Mediterranean coast. It is done in a rather primitive style but still conveys a vivid sunny aspect with good depth. The condition of the piece is good, there is some minor damage to the back paper and the piece is housed in a composite frame with a loop for hanging. Measurements are: frame 6″ by 5″ sight size is 4 1/2″ by 3 1/2″.
