Original painting on antique cast iron griddle pan. Signed by the artist. African American Artist: Ely Moses. Subject matter is an African American Riverside Baptist Church located in the Cobb County area of Georgia. She had told me she painted these scenes from her childhood spent growing up in Cobb County, Georgia. This awesome piece features the Riverside Baptist Church and many children playing all over the grounds along the river. I love the two children hanging out the upper window of the church! Just a beautiful and heart warming piece of Americana and times gone by! I have had this in my collection ever since along with a few other pieces of hers.

Here is a beautiful folk art winter scene. Looks like New England scene rolling hills church with Steeple man walking with his dog! What more can you ask for? Has a close look to Grand Ma Moses. In my eyes its appears to be a watercolor but I’m not a expert in art and or paints. The piece is very large measures about 33 1/2″ X 25 1/2″. The signature reads Ortel Ontel or Omtel not sure and its not dated. Based on the framer’s label on the back its early 1960’s and or earlier. Its in very good condition the large Christmas trees in the front the paint is thick and shows some crackling see last photo. But real a good looking winter scene. Peters is highly collected for her miniatures of children and babies. This is a more rare portrait of a young man in original gilt metal frame with reverse lens. In any case, the substrate was professionally repaired and stabilized using curren t best practices of conservation/restoration in the field and displays well.
