It held the washbowl and pitchers as well as a chamber pot on the lower shelf. This was the bathroom of its day. The side “handles” are not handles, but are in fact, towel bars used for the drying of hand towels. This grain paint is often called “smoke” decoration and is often seen in Pennsylvania Antiques. Condition: Excellent Well Cared for Antique Heirloom Condition. Finish does have alligatoring and minor blemishes that only add to the patina look of this piece. It is sturdy and has no scratches.
