Up for sale is a very rare antique 19th century hand tooled and painted leather hide tapestry. It signed on the bottom Lapayese and held by a detailed gilt wood hanger at the top. The painting is very large and painted on a natural piece of leather hide measuring 37 1/2 inches long by 28 inches wide. The wooden hanger at the top measures 34 inches wide. It depicts a wonderful scene of figures and animals surrounding a large basket of grapes while they combine their harvested collections. It has a lovely foliated trim at the top with a gold gilded edging. There is also gold gilded finish throughout the figural painting. The hides painting is heavily embossed with intricately done hand tooled detailing. It’s in nice used condition with normal ware tom age.
