Antique 19th century, c1860s, original oil painting of an eye catching folk art townscape at dusk. Depicts a riverside mill town complete with buildings, Windmill and old stone bridge arching over a gently cascading waterfall. Presumably a New England scene. Medium is oil on canvas done in a folk art style. Framed in its original lemon gold gesso and wood frame and ready to hang. Very intriguing and worthy of further research. Provenance comes from a Keene, New Hampshire area estate. In Good overall condition. Exhibits gentle cracking and soiling. No holes, rips, tears or indents. Frame shows gentle chipping and loss to the gesso at the corners. Eye catching and appealing. Measures 15 1/4″ x 12 1/4″ and 19 1/4″ x 16 1/4″ with the frame. All reasonable offers considered. Nicely pyramided folk art TRAMP ART picture frame in highly oxidized mellow gold

Here is a good early tramp art frame completely covered by carved pyramided layers, done with precision and skill, four deep high? The gold finish, either paint or bronze powder, has oxidized and mellowed to a pleasing darkness. Just for fun I have put in an advertising print for NASH, circa 1950’s, which is in a mat with a 4 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ opening. I think the car is a Nash Ambassador – doesn’t the driver look happy? After all, it was their top of the line model! Absolutely nothing wrong with this frame; the condition is perfect for its age and it has had decades to develop a very rich patina. Great surface, beveled edges with faint gold trim, uneven hand done lettering, a slight bow and rich patina. Rough smaltz or sand paint surface, just a wonderful look and a true one of a kind. Here is a very nice antique gentleman oil portrait painting. It is framed in its original gilt gold , heavy compo/gesso frame. The man has a Napoleon style hair cut and a dark blue jacket on. His inner vest is a light blue and his. The entire piece measures 18 1/4 x 20 1/4 in. The canvas only measures 12 1/8 x 13 7/8 in. Fair/good as is vintage condition. Some gilt paint overlay chipped/worn off in spots. Painting has mild crazing, nail hole thru top right, and bottom right. I say all this but the item dates to the 1830-40s so almost 200 years old soon. Not new, not perfect. The man is painted in a folk art style. All pictures to judge condition. But could be early 20thC. The Paint appears to be Gold Leaf and Dark Red, much of it which remains on the arrow. The fin is flat and the arrow point is full bodied. Not sure of the metal.
