A Spanish Colonial Cuzco school oil on canvas, later mounted to board, of an Archangel with a musket known as a harquebus. This scene is common in Colonial era Cuzco school art. Painting is well rendered and in very good condition.

Wonderful original oil painting measuring 32.5″ x27″. Just came out of a fine Cape Cod estate. New England Artist in Ireland. A native of New England, RJ Houghton has been painting and photographing beautiful landscapes for over thirty years. He graduated from Dean Academy and Massachusetts College of Art with degrees in Fine Art; and has continued his studies with some of the foremost master artists of our time. The Artist is a longstanding member of Boston’s Copley Society of Art and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum; and has exhibited in private galleries from Maine to Cape Cod. He is strongly influenced by annual excursions to Ireland and the UK.

There are some wrinkles and slight decay as is expected with an ephemeral piece such as this. The frame appears to be early 20th Century and has some chips as also can be seen in the photos.
