Original Folk Art Painting – “Under The Pink Sky” – Whimsical Dachshund in Flowers – 11×14 Acrylic. Thanks for stopping by. This is “Under The Pink Sky” – one of my favorite pieces I’ve painted recently. There’s something about this sweet dog sitting in a field of wildflowers under that bright pink sky that just makes me happy. Those big soulful eyes! The little purple and pink flowers all around. It’s got that joyful, carefree vibe I love in folk art. I paint in a whimsical, naive style – very loose and expressive with visible brushstrokes and bold colors. It’s got that authentic outsider art, primitive art feel. Each painting I create is completely original and one-of-a-kind – no two are ever the same. What you’re getting. Mid Century Acrylic Painting “Sharecropper” by Charles Knox. With an emphasis on expression over realism, this Charles Knox painting vividly portrays the worry on this sharecroppers face. A textured paint technique creates layers of depth and adds dimension. Knox has a raw, immediate quality to his brushwork that indicates he was painting outside of traditional art school conventions. While the exact year “Sharecropper” was painted is unknown, the simple wood frame and linen matting are indicative of a mid century origin, perhaps between 1965 and 1974. Original 19th-century Victorian portrait rendered in charcoal/crayon on paper, professionally laid down on canvas and stretched over a wooden frame. This format was commonly used in the late 1800s for commissioned family or studio portraits. The subject appears to be a gentleman wearing period attire consistent with the 1870s-1890s, including distinctive facial hair and formal coat. The green background and dry-media technique are typical of the era. Charcoal / crayon / pastel on paper. Paper mounted to canvas (laid on canvas). Canvas stretched over wood frame. Edge wear and losses visible along canvas edges. Areas of surface wear and smudging consistent with age. Paper lifting in spots from canvas backing. No visible artist signature.
