Measuring 26 1/4″ x 22 1/2″ the oil on canvas is mounted to its original red-wash thin-wood rack/stretcher having lapped corner hoints and wrought head nails. The subject gazes confidently at the viewer with a somewhat world-weary expression under thinning gray hair; a wig? Or something fluffy appears to rest on the table to his left. As the images show, the paint layer is HEAVILY crazed (stable) and the surface is absolutely filthy; it has not been lined. There are some minor edge losses and a pronounced stretcher line. This will leave some new holes in the rack but is preferable to damaging the canvas.
