From my own collection, this is an antique portrait miniature painting of a lady in a wonderful early 19thc yellow-brown dress with large full sleeves, her waist is belted high, as was the fashion. A white lace edged collar and long necklace complete her look. I bought this from an antique dealer in England several years ago. She has something written in ink on the back wooden panel, but the ink has faded and I cannot read it, other than a date, which is 1835 or 36. The portrait part of this measures 6 x 5″, the framed piece is 10 1/4 x 9″. It is 1 1/2 deep. This is in the original frame, which has wear commensurate with age, and I have photographed so you can see it.
