Hand painted on paper, this miniature Portrait Painting measures only 2 3/8″ by 2 7/8″. It depicts a profile of a young man wearing a US Naval, double breasted jacket. At the bottom is the title, “LFT John Rutherford 1849″. In the close up photographs you can see some foxing spots to the background of the painting and there is wear to the 5″ by 6 1/4″ gold gilt frame.
