This offering is for a 19th century folk art stenciled tin tole painted tray. The stenciled decoration is wonderful depicting a man, a woman and a dog in an outdoor wooded setting with a house in the background. The tray measures app. 17.5″ by 21″ and the condition is outstanding with very light wear, crazing and fading to the colors. There is very very minor loss to the painted decorations and there are no dents, bends or rust. The decoration is bold and lively giving the tray a charming appeal. AAFA FOLK ART EARLY PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE OLD APPLE TRAY WOOD GREEN WHITE PAINT. Up for sale is this old antique apple tray with handles. It’s wood and has splayed sides with mitered corners and handle cut outs on each end to carry it by. It’s a low tray and has old dark green paint on the outside and white paint on the inside. You can see hints of a lighter green color under the chips in the dark green paint so it may have been a lighter green at one point in its life. It has mitered splayed corners as you can see in the pictures. On one end, under the handle, the tray has a crack. It’s solid and was likely glued at some point. You can see the crack in the pictures. There is some edge wear, paint loss, nicks, scrapes, splatters, scratches, and dings. All of these “issues” are just as you’d expect from an item of this age. It measures about 25″ L x 15″ W x 3.5 H. It’s a very nice piece for your collection. Thank you for looking at this item. Antique SMALL PAINT DECORATED BITTERSWEET TRAY AAFA Primitive Folk Art. Wonderful little tray found in Lancaster County, PA. Probably first or second quarter 20th century. It measures approx 8.5 long. Glued joints and white petal decoration on black trim all on a ground of dry, fiery bittersweet paint. Aging varnish over the trim decoration has left the majority of the petals a buttermilk yellow color. Dusty with staining and a few hairlines in the bottom board. Any questions please ask. Wonderful 19th century cutlery tray with cutout handle and original wintergreen paint. Pine wood, possibly Virginia origin. Expected wear and paint loss, excellent over all. Bottom signed “Julia Bentley” with some practice scribble including a nice floral design (upper left) which was replciated on the sides of the box (see pics 8-10) though faded and hard to see.
