SIZE 11 x 13 1/2″ (sight); 14 1/2 x 17″ (including frame). Quill and brush watercolor freehand. Large PA-type fraktur style presentation piece. Forceful and energetic with wonderful brilliant color. Very Decorative in fine period lemon gold frame. Ex estate of venerable Ohio auctioneer/collectors Tom and Carol Porter who had a great eye for interesting objects in as-found condition. CONDITION All in all, exceptionally clean as these things go. Examined and photographed outside frame. Only obvious problem is small tight tear on left side. Frame has repaired chips. Please examine the photos carefully. The photos tell the story. Please call the shop for concise in-hand condition reports. Please read the entire ad carefully, especially the condition report. Antique 19th Century Sailors Woolwork Folk Art Ship Picture Hms Northumberland

A large mid-Victorian sailors woolwork picture of HMS Northumberland in an ornate gilt frame. HMS Northumberland (built 1866) was the last of the three Minotaur class armoured frigates built for the Royal Navy during the 1860’s. She was in active service until 1899 and was broken up in 1935. An excellent example of the craft. Frame – 69cm x 59cm. Picture – 49cm x 39cm. Very good for age. Frame has minor losses. We offer a selection of 17th to 20th century pictures, including portraits, landscapes, marines, folk art, genre scenes, landscapes, cattle, sporting art, animal and still life paintings. Gorgeous Folk Art 1950’s Silk Ribbon Doll Picture Under Glass, Antique Frame

Get Vendio Gallery – Now FREE! This wonderful ribbon doll picture was a craft project, folk art piece created in the 1950’s from a DOL-LEE pattern. I have an original Dol-Lee pattern for sale in another listing, if you want to see what the pattern looks like! The pattern includes a heavy card stock silhouette doll and instructions for dress her in ribbon and lace. Of course, the finish products varied by maker – some, like this one, beautifully enhanced the instructions and pattern. This one is really gorgeous, done in pale green, cream and pink silk ribbon on a pale cream background. It is framed in a wonderful solid wood antique frame from the early 1900’s that really complements the antique style dress the little doll is wearing. The frame has a slight dent in the gold trim, visible in the photos, and some surface scratches and light wear. The biggest flaw is the way the picture is held into the frame; there is a plain cardboard back that is held with clear tape. It really needs to be more tightly secured with some frame tacks. Not a big deal, just want to mention it. It looks fine, and hangs fine on the wall even as it is! It is really beautiful, and would be great just about anywhere you want to put her!
