Triptych: OUTSIDER/NAIVE/FOLK ART Paintings, 3 Paintings On 1/8 Plywood WOMEN WITH HAIRSTYLES UNSIGNED. I’m calling these a triptych. They definitely go together thematically. I think the theme is hairstyles. I cannot tell you as much about them as I would like to. The estate from which I got them left no living aficionados of Outsider. (or it’s also sometimes called Naive Art or Folk Art). Of the several pieces of Outsider Art I have gotten from this estate, this is the one (this one set of 3) that has most interested Outsider Art dealers and people who DO know what they’re talking about in Chicago. One of those people is one of the people who started Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outside Art. Everyone has told me to sell them together, as a triptych. LRG Original Folk Art WW2 Veteran Paintings on Vintage Metal Gas Station Numbers
Paintings done on large, vintage steel numeral signs that were likely used for advertising gas prices along a highway- they’re pretty big. These are original, handmade, one-of-a-kind art pieces, not prints of reproductions. The numbers themselves are double-sided and were used, so that means there’s a good degree of scuffs, scratches, wear, and some holes drilled into them, especially along the comers. See all the photos for examples of this. As shown in the pics, they were mounted to a wood frame and then the paintings were done onto these vintage numbers. There is a vintage Esso map used in those areas behind the soldiers. Those areas are cut paper from the map pasted-in to those designs and also in the area in the’ghost’ soldier’s tie. Start an art collection of your own, or give art as a gift and someone will thank you for starting them on the path to having thei rown collection! Artwork size is 36″ Height x 17.25″ Width. What an interesting piece. I went to take it out of the frame and I found an unfinished painting on the backside of this painting. Both have fantastic color both are signed by the same artist.
