This original 16×20-inch painting was created by me. In my Washington, D. Studio, The Make Shift Studio. It’s a vibrant, handmade piece painted in acrylic and mixed media on stretched canvas, unframed, signed, and one of a kind. I often use three recurring marks – a line, two stripes, and a crown, circles and crosses to tell a story about voice, equality, self-ownership and inclusion. The vertical line running from the lip down the chin is The Freedom Line. It was inspired in part by the symbolic power of traditional facial markings found in Indigenous cultures around the world. While I don’t imitate those traditions, I honor their spirit, the way a simple mark can tell a story of courage, identity, and belonging. In my work, this line stands for freedom of speech, the moment your truth leaves the body and enters the world. The Equals Mark – two cheek stripes – represents empathy and equality, a quiet stand for connection between people. The Crown, a nod to Basquiat and the lineage of street artists before me, symbolizes self-ownership, the idea that we each rule our own creative life. Together, these symbols form a visual language of independence, humanity, and voice, reminders that we are free, equal, and our stories are our own. My work blends modern abstract expressionism with postmodern and pop influences, using texture, collage, and color to explore the harmony that hides inside chaos. Some of my pieces include layers of vintage magazines from the’40s through the’90s, little fragments of history that bring their own stories and energy to the surface. Some may use gelli plates and other pressed or imprinted processes. Each painting is unique, there’s only one in the world, and it comes with a. Signed Certificate of Authenticity. Size: 16 x 20 inches. Medium: Watercolor / Ink / Acrylic / Mixed Media on Canvas. Signed and dated on the back. After 6 days the art work may be relisted. Just send me a message if you’re interested. TEXTURAL, BEAUTIFUL, HIGH-END FINE ART! ALL OF MY WORK COMES WITH A SIGNED CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. THANK YOU FOR VIEWING MY WORK! THIS IS A HANDMADE ORIGINAL PAINTING. Gallery: Faris Art Studios. I’m a painter, musician, and creative director based in Washington, D. Originally from Sugartit, Kentucky, I spent two decades in Boston’s art and music scenes before settling in D. Where I work out of my basement studio, The Make-Shift Studios. My paintings blend spontaneity, storytelling, and a touch of humor, reflecting a lifelong curiosity about color, texture, and the emotional rhythm of everyday life. When I’m not painting, I record and perform as “Kentucky Jim” and run the design and apparel brand HipsterDaddy. THIS IS HOW WE TOGETHER CREATE ART THAT IS NOT ONLY ENJOYABLE DAY-TO-DAY, BUT ALSO MAKES FOR A WISE LONG-TERM INVESTMENT. We are forced to live in a chaotic world, when we all, in fact, thrive in harmony. My paintings demonstrate that harmony pre-exists within the chaos itself, and that peace can prevail. This unique artwork, is a stunning piece that showcases the artist’s mastery of various techniques such as cubism, contemporary art, expressionism, figurative art, pop art, minimalism, still life, abstract, impressionism, cubist, post-impressionism, and modernism. Measuring 16×20 in, the painting surface is made of high-quality canvas, and it features a beautiful array of multi-colors, making it the perfect addition to any collection. This one-of-a-kind painting is handmade and signed by the artist, Jim Faris, who is well-known for their exquisite creations. It also comes with a certificate of authenticity (COA) issued by the same artist. This painting is not just an item, but it is a masterpiece that can be personalized according to your preferences. It is a must-have for art enthusiasts, architecture aficionados, and even animal and anime lovers.

Marakame – Huichol Art. Every piece includes its certificate of authenticity. Every piece is unique. Zapotec figures whose original name is “tonas” or “nahuales”. This special selection of Oaxacan Alebrije is hand painted on wood carving of the copal tree (Bursera, spp), which grows around the community of San Martin Tilcajete, a town in the Zapotec region of the State of Oaxaca, in the South of Mexico. In this place, for generations the residents have developed the artisan work of pieces with this wood. The manufacture of each work can take up to 15 months (depending on its dimensions and details) in its completion from start to finish, using simple tools such as machetes, gouges and knives for its finishing; being the drying of the wood the step that makes the entire process more patient and detailed. Later comes the detailed symbolism implicit of the ancient Zapotec worldview that tells about iconic animals representing their culture, elevating the elements that sustain the life of this town. Is a brand that proposes a creative way to merge art, design and culture. We believe that we can converge this trilogy of concepts through our project of Diffusion and Commercialization of unique pieces of Art Wixarika (huichol). Our pieces are made by Huichol families from different rural communities that mainly live in the Sierra Madre Occidental of the state of Jalisco. The central idea of this project is also to disseminate, commercialize and revalue pieces of Huichol art, traditionally considered as “crafts”; it is to show that the realization of a piece and its mythical symbology are intimately intricate with a social and cultural dimension little known to the world. We have works that are made using two basic techniques: beading and yarn painting. Which are carried out in an exhaustive period that goes from a week to months of work. We specialize in the projection and sale of collectibles and we take care together with the huichol artists of the impeccable manufacture of each piece. The elements of the worldview of these artists are reflected in it, making them unique and unrepeatable artworks, as each artist has a particular way of expressing their feelings, colors, shapes and visions. From the elements that have been shaping for centuries for their spiritual importance, such as the blue deer, corn, the eagle and the “tuutu” (peyote) rose, all descendants of the Sun God “Tau”; to the emerging symbology of contemporary Huichol artists with a conceptual meaning, which has emerged from the Huichol culture and its magical traditions.
