Antique Polychrome Repousse OLD PAINT Retablo Tin Folk Art Picture Frame Mirror
This exceptional late 19th century repousse tin frame with its elaborate baroque embellishments and BOLD polychrome likely was a frame for a retablo and later adapted as a mirror. Measuring 16″ x 10 1/2″ overall with 7 5/8″ x 5 1/2″ reveal, it has some of the best, chippy, dry polychrome I have seen on a mirror of this type. The graphic raised designs of urn, sunflowers and tobacco leaves have great charm and the paint is stable. Its old mirror pane is badly fogged/aged and the tin back is loose on one side and held into place with yellowed masking tape. Its hanger has been replaced and there is an ineffectual later blob of solder attempting to re-attach the tin back. Primitive folk art at its best!!! Absolutely magnificent piece of treen or trump art! The nicest I have ever seen! Beautiful wood, I think walnut or cherry but not sure. Pictures do not do it justice. Currently has a mirror in it (please excuse pics of me taking pics) but can be used as a frame. Measures about 18″ by 14″. I was on a trip there and found it in a little store in the heart of town. My decor has changed so much and it does not fit in anywhere and yet I love it and just hate to part with it. I know someone else will enjoy it as it is just a delightful piece and makes you happy just to look at it. It is in excellent, original condition. The paint and colors pop and are really beautiful. It is fairly large and measures approximately 18.5″w x 23.5″ L. The width of the mirror with the doors fully open is approximately 23.25. There is a hanger on the back for easy display. It is from a forever smoke free home. It will be packed carefully. Spectacular Carved Tramp Art Stacked Frame 32 Arched Mirror Picture Folk
The piece measures 32-1/2″ x 21-1/4″. There are 8 or 9 levels of carved stacked wood. Good condition, there is a split on the left arch in one of the levels and some minor imperfections which are not uncommon on a piece of this size and age. This had been used as a mirror but could easily accommodate any type of artwork. The inner frame dimensions are approximately 13-1/4″ x 23-1/4″(to the top of the inner arch).
