This is an antique folk art painting of a handsome gentleman wearing a gold Masonic pin on his shirt. Horace Bunday (1814-83) is a well listed artist, best known for his portraits of prominent Americans, whose paintings regularly sell for thousands of dollars. Signed and dated on reverse “H Bundy / Painter / 55″, and stamped “RL & G DRAKE / ARTISTS DEPOT / TROY NY”. The portrait is encircled in a faux oval inner frame. The painting measures approximately 30″ x 25″. Condition: Very good overall condition, scattered minor losses along the edges, several light scratches to upper left (please see photos) and scattered areas of inpainting to clothing and background.
