Painted on thin plywood, 16 x 24. This piece exemplifies the emotion and talents of Mr. Vibrant colors, and Michael’s signature razor etchings!! Two nail holes, one left and one right of the eyes, where Mr. Banks nailed the board up to execute the painting, typical for a Banks’ piece. BIO: Michael has won many honors with his work which has been exhibited in New York, Denver, and Atlanta. The Hurn Museum in Savannah, Georgia presented a One-Man exhibition of his work in 2005 and has a number of his works in their permanent collection. Articles featuring his work have appeared in Southern Living magazine (August 2006) and Better Homes and Gardens (August 2006). A review of his Hurn exhibition in the Savannah Morning News stated, “Michael Banks: Outsider Artist” offers Savannah’s most rewarding and penetrating solo show in recent memory. Antique Cloth Primitive Folk Art Rag Doll Oil Painted Face Large 28 Sweet

Her eyes are blue. Her cheeks and lips are pink and her hair is painted brown. She has individual fingers and large feet, a small waist and exaggerated large hips. This doll is stuffed with cotton, and wears a calico dress with tiny pink rosebuds. She has a beautiful presence. Probably from the late 1800’s. Condition: This is a well loved doll which has been played with! She has age discoloration throughout, repairs, holes on her hands, on the sides of her neck and a small hole on her nose. Her ankles have repairs that look like a child sewed them. Her dress has stains, holes, repairs, and the buttons have fallen off on the back her dress which is held together with a straight pin. The stitching at the top of one of her legs is coming loose. In spite of these flaws, she is still a great old doll! Add me to your favorites! Sorry, no international sales. She has a lovely flat hand painted face. She has stitched joined arms and legs along with a stitched knee joint. She has mitt hands with a separate thumb. Her body is firmly stuffed and has an aged patina with soiling as shown. She is clean smelling. She is dressed in a teal and white striped colonial style dress and bonnet, her petticoat and bloomers are hemmed with handmade lace. Her black boots are made of leather.
