Found in the FingerLakes region of New York State this painting on canvas measures 25″ x 17″. It photographs crisper than it looks in person. Telling me it would like a cleaning. A few blemishes but overall a beautiful and very stable painting. I believe the photographs give an accurate read.

Up for sale is a gorgeous antique oil painting depicting a charming moonlit river landscape with camping figures. A figure is seen in the boat fishing while the other sits by the waters edge next to their warm blazing fire. A white tent is pitched with its door pulled back sitting in front of a thick grouping of tall trees. This wonderful landscape shows a bright full moon casting its strong light to the surrounding clouds and reflecting off the river leading all the way to the foreground. This is such a lovely painting executed in a charming folksy / naive style but refined. Unsigned, this painting is worked in oil on artist board measuring 9.5 x 5.5 inches while its original gold wood frame measures 11.25 x 7 inches making this painting ready to be hung and enjoyed! The condition of this painting shows flaking / loss, some gold overspray low right edge and some wear to its frame. Please see item description. ANTIQUE OIL PAINTING Welsh Romantic Primitive Landscape MONMOUTHSHIRE 1878. “A View in Monmouthshire” By Frederick Lena 1878. Highly decorative primitive school painting of a view in Monmouthshire. Provenance- Private collection, Parkside Villa, Suffolk. Size- 19.5 by 15.5 inches approx including frame. Medium- Oils on canvas laid to wooden panel. Frame- Antique wooden frame, some knocks and losses, offered free with the painting. Condition- We would be very happy to hang this one as found. It is in pretty good condition given its age. The item has been professionally cleaned though there is still some residual varnish browning visible. Light craqueleur and some verticle striations from the timbering beneath the canvas. Signature- Unsigned, later inscription on the reverse.
